Reading Country Club

About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

Beautiful conditions / layout / clubhouse
Great course. Got a hot deal on weekend. Little slow on the back but greens and tee boxes were in perfect shape. Would recommend.
fall golf in reading
course in really ngood shape...a little wet from days of rain but still very playable...freindly staff and not too crowded for a sunday noon tee time....excellent example of old school golf!
Magnificent golf course
This is my favorite course in eastern pa. 18 great greens, nice fairways, and most tees in good condition. A tremendous set of par 3s. The rough was a bit high but it was nice seeing the definition with the fairway. You don't see that a lot with most public courses. The layout is a classic, not long, but very demanding. The staff is both friendly and accommodating. If I lived closer I would play here three times a week.
Average at best.
Maybe it’s my fault for expecting more, Greens were coming back from aeration, the tee boxes are in need of water and grass. Lot of blind shots. The layout seems like it was squeezed in. The range was like hitting out of the rough. The whole experience was more like an average muni. Which in this case felt well below average for a country club. For 80 bux, I’d say play somewhere else.
First time at Reading CC
I played at Reading CC for the first time on 8/26/2025. I enjoyed the layout of the course because it was challenging. The creek that runs through the course made the round interesting . Even though the overall condition of the course was not good( some of the tee boxes, fairways and some greens weren't in great shape), I still enjoyed the round.
incredible turn around
What a turn around with the new owners, incredible!
I wish they would buy Galen Hall, that course could use an good owner!
Great day, Great deal!
Been a few years, and the hot deal was toooo good, I couldn’t afford NOT to come an hour + to play. Put up a nice 42/43 with 29 putts .
Greens were fast, and in different levels of condition throughout the course. Can only remember 2or 3 rough ones, but the pin was in a good spot on those greens . Tee boxes were getting worked on. Noticed workers raking, dragging and blowing tee boxes off from remnants of what appears to be aeration. Some tees had all tee markers together almost boxes were open. . New growth gives hope they are getting better.
Elevation changes and un even lies make it interesting. Some rough spots around. Nothing horrendous.
Thank you to the starter!! Got me out a little early and by myself. Passed a 2 some on 5 and skipped over another one at the turn. Had no one in front of me on the back and finished the round in less then 2.5 hours!! Made a good day better for my 80 minute ride home.
I recommend this course. Get a GPS, will definitely help here.
Terrific old school course that needs a ranger
Terrific layout new owners working on course but some holes on the back 9 are very burnt out. Biggest issue was the 3 groups ahead of us by the end of the day the first of the 3 was 2 full holes behind and despite this the group directly in front of us had a full hole open inns front of them very slow back 9 and a ranger could have certainly helped the delay
Good afternoon
The course is in good shape. They’re spending some money to bring it up to par
