Honey Run Play
The course was in great shape. It was very enjoyable.
Coulda shoulda been a good course
Overall, the course was very dry and hard. So the ball bounced high at times and rolled for really long distances. York Co. has had a dry summer and it showed at Honey Run. If there had been more rain, I think the course would have been more pleasurable. The course layout was varied so it was challenging and interesting. The ruff was very short.
Southern Pa. at it's best
Honey Run live up to it's reputation. On the Nike Tour years ago it still has the same features and remains in fine shape.
I'd say a chalenge for men and also women friendly.
Honey Run
Went and played a full 18 at Honey Run for the first time. It was a good experience and a fun course! The front nine is much narrower and more challenging then the back so don't get discouraged early! Great, fun course!
Nice Experience
8:40am Tee Time on Fathers Day Sunday. Right on time, excellent pace of play all morning and afternoon. Greens and fairways excellent. Teeing grounds could use some leveling. Bunkers were a hazard, as they should be... you're not supposed to hit it in there, right?
Beverage cart came on duty at 10am, so we didn't see her until the back nine, but saw her twice in that time.
Overall very good experience.
The wind makes club selection difficult
Greens were smooth and fast.
Great day!
Played Mother's Day early A.M. and was very pleased. Portions of course were somewhat soggy, but it was a very rainy last two weeks. Greens were immaculate, like a pool table, not at all like previous reviewers stated. Course is very challenging, makes you use all your clubs, and was in excellent shape considering the recent weather. Lots of interesting holes with bunkered fairways and dog-legs both ways. Got a great deal and can't wait to go back again.
Greens
The greens where being air rated on the front 9 so had to play the back 9 twice. Wasn't made aware of this till we got to the course. If we would have know we could have played a different course. The greens on the back 9 where in very bad shape.
The course is in great shape for all the snow we had
The pace of play was extremely slow. Maybe t-times were to close. Starter was not present at an 8:45 t-time, maybe that was a reason for that. Course was in beautiful condition!
Beautiful course.
I love this course. It is beautiful and challenging. At the price we got, it is as good a deal as you can get.
Greens were in great shape for late November!
Foursome played in just under four hours. Course was in great shape. Only complaint was they did not have rakes out for the traps for some reason??
Honey Run...NOT!
The course had been freshly aerated and the holes on the greens were enormous with way to much sand and fertilizer. Fairways had approx. 1 1/2 thick grass, rough impossible. pace of play was way to slow as twosomes ahead, as far as 4 twosomes ahead were not courteous enough to allow faster player to go thru. 5+ hr. round that was not necessary
Pace of play.
It took 4 hours 35 minutes. Hat is not my idea of a good pace of play.
Challenging
This is the 2nd time playing this course . It was very challenging. Expect to have a few extra strokes at the end of the round. The layout of the course was great. Many holes had to have pinpoint accuracy due to the location of trees and bunkers and water. The fairways were in very good condition and the greens were in excellent condition and were fast. Overall the course for the cost was well worth the experience. Had a good time.
Great for the money
This is a rare golf course in that you get more than what what you pay for.
Nice course
The course was in good shape. Great day with my buddies on the course. Sure beats work
A little bit of honey!
This course is about 1/2 way between me in Washington DC and a friend who lives northwest of Valley Forge PA. We each drove about 90 minutes and met there for 18 holes. We teed off at 10:08 and had a BLAST. This was the first time either of us played the course.
Honey Run is in GREAT shape. Greens rolled very true, fairways were awesome, and tee boxes were excellent. The course is rated 130 slope but it seemed much more playable than that. I'm a 10 handicap and playing this course for the first time after sitting in the car for 90 minutes shot an 85. could have picked up 5 shots easily - double bogey hole #1 for example ... should have spent a little more time loosening up on the range!
The staff was SUPER friendly. We played at our leisure and only saw a few other golfers. We had a couple of sprinkles during the day which may have scared other people away.
We had lunch in the restaurant there and the food was excellent and service outstanding. They also have a Wednesday all the wings you can eat special which I'm sure is awesome. Will definitely make the trip and replay in the future. If you're in the York area it's definitely worth playing and at $29 including cart and range balls it's an INCREDIBLE bargain!
Best value in the York Area
Our experience at Honey Run was excellent tee off exactly on time played our round in 4 hours and 10 minutes. The conditions were great , greens roll very true, for the money nicest round I have played in the York, Pa area.
Course was in terrific condition for a late December round of golf.
Having played this course many times, I have always found it to be in good to excellent playing condition. Over the years some low areas can get waterlogged even into the fairways. Not so on this late December day with conditions being very playable. Greens were better than expected and quality maintenance was quite apparent! A very enjoyable round!
Great Course
It rained a lot yesterday so the bunkers were mostly puddles but other than that the course was in great shape. My buddy and I played a round and finished in about 3.5 hours while taking our time. Really fast greens and some great scenery back in the woods. I will definitely be going back.
Aeration seems like a poor reason to give the course a low rating. I recommend you give it another try when the greens aren't being treated.
