Operational management seriously lacking!!!!
Perfect weather, course in very good shape - management of pace of play non-existent!
Tried this course two different times - neither was a good experience!. Unlikely we will play here again.
1st time we had a 6:07 tee time. No one was at the club house when we arrived 30 minutes early to check in. Starters eventually arrived but with no keys to open the place up. The place was stacked with golfers with tee times waiting to play!
2nd time today had a 12:52 tee time. So far so good! Then the slowness epidemic took hold!
Eventually the group in front of us skipped around the group in from of them as there were at least 3 open holes in front of that group. To go from bad to worse the slow group not keeping ahead called ahead to the restaurant and has a person with zero knowledge of golf etiquette deliver beer to them - the deliver kid simply did not know golf and thought nothing of driving in front our group while teeing off!
NO RANGERS ON THE COURSE! ZERO EFFORT TO KEEP PACE OF PLAY! When frustration maxed out after 5 1/2+ hours we skipped the last hole and complained at the pro shop. The nice man there said "no rangers" on Sunday's but he offered that we said we could extend our misery and play a few more holes NO THANKS - we were pretty well fried by then and had enough of waiting after every shot!
It is a darn shame that there are no signs nor enforced course policy to play ahead. It is downright dangerous when after players have gone out of sight and you think it is "all clear" to see the group in front of you driving their carts back towards you to find their balls and hit again! When we asked the group in front to "move along" their very irate explanation was they were teaching folks to play golf - obviously golf etiquette and pace of play was not part of their curriculum. Picking up and moving ahead to keep up the group in front was a concept they could not grasp!
We can not in good conscience recommend this course!
Cranston CC
Course in good shape- rough is thick , but not unfair , making finding your ball a bit tough( but hey, you're not supposed to be there !) Greens are always on the slow side, but smooth and consistent .
We were a twosome, and played with two other singles....nice guys.
Hot deals makes this price fair- the usual course fees a bit steep for value.
Great Day at Cranston CC
Decided to go a bit far afield from Plymouth, MA where I live and saw this for $38. Course is longish even from the whites, but the fairways are generally wide open so it’s a big hitters delight. A great island green par 3 provided a tough challenge. The course’s main defense is probably the rough, which wasn’t quite US Open cut but could cause one to have a hard time finding a ball that rolled off the fairway (I donated one ProV that was I thought in great position but couldn’t find it...it’s that deep in spots). Very fair course and very pretty all around as most Cornish designed courses are. Greens were nice and usually large. The clubhouse had a nice feature where they had hotdogs ready to grab at the end of the bar. Pay and go. Really enjoyed it, will definitely be back.
Nice layout. Course was wet due to previous day's rain. Greens were lousy....slow and lot's of poanna grass making them bumpy. However, May 20 is still early.
Great conditions with a cool island green par 3 8th hole.
By far the best conditioned course played so far this year. Greens and fairways were healthy and the rough was thick.
