Enjoyable round
Booking, check in was easy. Course, especially fairways and tees, in overall excellent condition although some greens seemed to have issues. Green speed was a bit slower than I'm used to, fairways were in superb condition. Rough was rough without being too penal. Got a few screwy readings on my GPS watch, but generally ok. Pace of play was excellent..we finished in about 3:50 even though we usually play pretty quickly. I'm sure we will be back.
Some of the greens were a little messed up from being cut too short (brown spots). I'd play again any time.
Great shape and layout
Lots of different holes on this course. The course is in great shape and the greens are nice. Played really quickly.
Play up and lower your handicap
Played on a Saturday afternoon during the Clemson game and the course was empty. Played in under 3 hours.
Tee boxes and fairways in good condition. The greens were running medium slow and need some work. The overall layout, other than a couple of holes, was not really very challenging. Unless you play from the tips-6800 yes.
We were 1/2 hour early for our tee time, but were told we could go as soon as we were ready.
I would play there again if golf now has a real bargain rate.
Great experience
This was the first time my dad and I had played here. We have been wanting to play here for years and just now had the chance. It was about an hour drive for us, but boy was it worth it. Loved the lay out,
loved the atmosphere, and the views. We snagged a great rate from golfnow for $25. Truly a hidden gem for the price. The only thing I think that could improve would be the speed of the greens. To me it looked like they had been working on them, which probably is why they were kinda slow. Definitely would not deter me from playing there again. I will definitely be going back.
Good course/slow round
Always enjoy playing at the links, but we went on a Sunday evening thinking no one would be there and it was slammed. It was very conjested from the start. Slowest round I've ever played. Course was in great shape though!
Always a good course
This course has a good layout. The greens had been punched about a week before I played. In another week the greens should be smooth. The greens were a little bumpy after the aeration.. Check-in was a breeze with the golf now system. One drawback was that the driving range was not open.
One You Have To Try
This is a very good course. For the most part, the fairways are open, and the greens are fairly fast. This course is always in very good condition. It's at the base of the mountain making the scenery beautiful. It's truly a hidden gem.
Worth the Trip!
This course has a fun layout and can be played from any set of tees by any player. I strongly recommend taking a trip out of town to check out this hidden gem!
Good Course Conditions for an Enjoyable Round
I found the course much improved since my last round here about two years ago and quite enjoyed this round. A lot of work has been done to the course and the results are very positive. The fairways provided good lies and the greens rolled with fair speed. The ranger/starter was very friendly and helpful. I recommend the course for GolfNow customers.
Good Course Conditions - Much Improved Greens
I found the course much improved since my last round there about two years ago and enjoyed the afternoon. A lot of work has been done and looks like it continues to be done to bring the course back to what it was years ago.
Unfortunately, play seemed very slow even though most of the groups ahead were twosomes. Rangers were on the course but there is little they can do when the course is full. That being said, we still finished near the target time posted in the carts of four hours ten minutes. The weather was nice and the company good so it worked out fine.
The ranger/starter was very friendly and helpful. The same can not be said for the assistant pro or staff working in the pro shop. (The pro was giving a lesson on the range.) Either he has zero personality or our being GolfNow customers left him with little interest in welcoming us so we might spend money in his shop or the grill. Bad choice because we came prepared to do both and did neither.
I still recommend the course for GolfNow customers. The positives of the course outweighed the void in the pro shop.
Great Fun
Picked a T- time on last minute whim and joined up with great group. Enjoyed the round and the day. Weather was excellent and course was in good shape.
The course was last minute choice
Decided to play late in the day went on golf now and got a great rate. The course was in good shape other than the greens were the slowest ever played on like Velcro.
Would like to play again the fairways are great if they would cut and roll greens would be a great track.
Varied layout with slowest greens on earth
One will like the cost, layout, and staff attitude a time or two around the track, but frustratingly eventually write the course off a "favorites" list simply because of the slow greens. I've played all around North America and declare these the most consistently slowest greens I've encountered, and this is over a period of nearly 30 years infrequently playing this track. It's just a joke to have to make a full body turn on a putt just to get it to the hole (even on a downhill putt). The Bermuda greens are "tough" to avoid "losing" them to heat and heavy play, but they are simply not "cut and rolled" enough to satisfy even the most moderate-minded decent putter (it's as though you're penalized for hitting the ball on the green, and I've witnessed more than one 4 putt from within 25 feet).
Go once or twice to fairly appraise the layout (which forces variety of tee clubs), but the greens will have you "shaking your head" after each round.
This course is great.
My brother, my 2 grandsons and I enjoyed this course very much. Staff was super nice.
Worth the wait!
I've been wanting to play this course since it opened in the 90's and just something always came up. Well, let me tell you that it was worth the wait. I finally played it yesterday and loved it. Pulling in you see a nice clubhouse that house that English/Irish/Scottish look to it. Walking into the clubhouse was met with a very friendly hello and welcome. Played using the golf ap, Golfnow for $31. What a deal! The course is short from a yardage standpoint but the choices it gives you are fantastic. Haven't used this many different clubs in a round of golf in a long time because of choices and strategy. The conditions were very good for this time of year. Maintenance personnel were on the course working which is nice to see. We enjoyed every hole so much we did a replay (only $15). Fantastic course, people, cold beer, and fun. I can't wait to return for another 36 holes!!
Overall, really nice...
I played here for the first time recently. First, I thought the architecture of the holes was outstanding - beautiful with an interesting variety. It's built in a development, but the housing isn't intrusive. There are a lot of woods, mature trees and water. I'm a walker, and liked very much that walking is allowed anytime. HOWEVER... I would take a cart next time. The front nine is good for walking, but the back less so - largely because of a couple of very long walks from green to tee. Your walk from 13 green to 14 tee is over 400 yards (I paced it)... and there's another walk on the back that's about 300 yards. It's doable, of course, but it breaks up the flow of play. The cost to play with a cart is just a few more dollars than walking, so that's good - but I still like walking. Hard to judge the condition of a course this early in the spring - but the greens were very good, and that's the most important thing. There were a couple of greens on the back nine with significantly longer grass than others - perhaps because of the water or sun conditions there... would be nice to see more consistency. The cost to play is very reasonable. I will definitely make the trip more times to play here, despite that it's about an hour from my home...
