Nice course
Beautiful views of mountains. Great value. Enjoyed it a lot. Will definitely play this course again.
Definitely Revisiting Soon!
My brother and I came for our first visit of the club/course and left with a positive experience. We arrived and were greeting warmly in the clubhouse by both the pro shop attendant and the starter. The putting green was in great shape and gave us an accurate representation of the green speed for the round. Upon approaching the first hole, the starter was wonderful and gave us a great overview of the course, as well as some great suggestions that we utilized throughout our round.
The course was in very good shape overall considering the time of year. The tee boxes were not necessarily lush; however, the boxes were smooth (flat) and offered a great teeing surface. The fairways played very nicely and most of the bunkers were filled with actual sand and not just Carolina clay. We really enjoyed the fact that the greens were overall not too challenging coupled with pristine placement of protective bunkers around them. Our only complaint would be the greens on the back nine as they were a little rough and patchy in places- - definitely not horrible, but need a little bit of work.
The pace of play was pretty good considering that it was a Saturday afternoon. It took us about 4:15 to play through 18 holes as we had to wait on about 1/2 of the tees for the group in front of us. The beverage cart came through a couple of times and did a good job of making its way around.
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our round and the value for the price we paid. I highly recommend this course to others and want to let management know that we will definitely be revisiting. One more shout out to the starter for his tips of advice!
First time at Links o Tryon
Definitely worth the drive from GVL.
Trees were budding and the grass still dormant. Weather was mid 70's with a slight breeze.
Paired with two "members" in their 70's that play very well. They were excellent stewards of the sport and provided key advice to successfully get around the course.
It was a great day. Life Is Good.

Very nice layout with views of the mountains in the distance. Being that it is March, the course is still dormant which makes it very playable. My only negative would be that the greens are in rough shape due to damage.
Great Course for the money
I really enjoy this course, it's a great layout. You can make this challenging, just step back a tee box! Greens are quick, I hope they stay this way during the summer months.
Good Shape for Winter Conditions
Course was in great shape for Winter play..cart path only due to wet conditions...looking forward to playing in the Spring.
Greens?
The course has a nice layout and overall good conditions. My only real issue with the course is green set up. The greens are undulated with lots of sloped areas. Why in the world would the pins be placed on these slopes or the edge of ridges when the speed of the green is so fast? Had more putts than I care to remember just miss the cup, while rolling slow enough to read "Callaway" with each revolution, only to pick up speed and roll out another 10-15 feet. Just not my idea of a good time, I didn't enter the "Club Championship"
Very good course - great value
The course presented challenges that were designed for all skill levels. Great condition and enjoyable to play. Will plan to play again.
My father is sold on this course
Our parents were in visiting, so we took them to Links O'Tryon. On about the 16th hole, my father said to me, "This has been a thoroughly enjoyable round. This is definitely a course that I would play again!"
Nice round!
Overall this was a nice round and an exceptionally good value. The course was in good shape and the pace of play was good.
Easy Fun Round
Played the back tees by myself , so I can't report my 79 on my handicap. Play was at an ok speed , I followed a couple and a threesome , just waited my turn . Fairways are very wide and the greens although appearing fast played very slow but after 3 or four holes got the pace. Had an enjoyable day .
Enjoyable round
Booking, check in was easy. Course, especially fairways and tees, in overall excellent condition although some greens seemed to have issues. Green speed was a bit slower than I'm used to, fairways were in superb condition. Rough was rough without being too penal. Got a few screwy readings on my GPS watch, but generally ok. Pace of play was excellent..we finished in about 3:50 even though we usually play pretty quickly. I'm sure we will be back.
Some of the greens were a little messed up from being cut too short (brown spots). I'd play again any time.
Great shape and layout
Lots of different holes on this course. The course is in great shape and the greens are nice. Played really quickly.
Play up and lower your handicap
Played on a Saturday afternoon during the Clemson game and the course was empty. Played in under 3 hours.
Tee boxes and fairways in good condition. The greens were running medium slow and need some work. The overall layout, other than a couple of holes, was not really very challenging. Unless you play from the tips-6800 yes.
We were 1/2 hour early for our tee time, but were told we could go as soon as we were ready.
I would play there again if golf now has a real bargain rate.
Great experience
This was the first time my dad and I had played here. We have been wanting to play here for years and just now had the chance. It was about an hour drive for us, but boy was it worth it. Loved the lay out,
loved the atmosphere, and the views. We snagged a great rate from golfnow for $25. Truly a hidden gem for the price. The only thing I think that could improve would be the speed of the greens. To me it looked like they had been working on them, which probably is why they were kinda slow. Definitely would not deter me from playing there again. I will definitely be going back.
