Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Continuing Improvement
Greens nice. Fairways nice. Thick Rough - lost balls we watched roll into the grass. Pace of play always been an issue here but was a lot better this round. Overall good course and will definitely be coming back.
Pretty Good
Course was in great shape! Their greens are really good. I really enjoyed it.
Great Columbia course
This was the third time playing this course in the last couple of months and I have been happy with the layout and condition every time. They have several unique holes that makes this course difficult and fun for a new player. I will be going back for many more rounds.
We had a fun day on the course
This course was a pleasant experience. We had a mix of new golfers and some that knew how to play and the course was fun for us all. Greens were nice condition but challenging enough with some good hole placements. Enough of the fairways were open so it didn’t hurt too bad if you didn’t play straight. Not a long course but that worked well for our group. Staff was super friendly! We had a great time. Thanks
Great Value
Second time in two weeks playing this course, Staff is great, course is in good shape and the greens are in great shape with all the warm weather. Pace of play was 31/2 to 4 hrs.
Awesome Course Conditions
Wow, this course has come a long way from a year ago. Big thanks to the golf course maintenance staff and the owner for putting a lot of money and hard work into all these wonderful and much needed improvements. This golf course has turned into one of the best public courses in the Columbia area. The greens and fairways are so good and the rough has grown nicely and is a true penalty if you miss the fairway. This is how golf was designed to be played. Well done! The bunkers are pretty good but some need some additional sand added as the bunkers liners are showing in areas. Hopefully the maintenance staff will address these areas soon. My only complaint is the golf course let a foursome tee off the back nine and when my group made the turn we caught them at hole 14 and they totally slowed our tempo and pace of play. That shouldn’t happen. I also hear they allow 5somes out at times. That’s not good either as it backs up the course and makes for a frustrating day. Hopefully they will stop allowing this practice. Overall I’m extremely pleased with the transformation of this course and will be back often as well as recommending this course to my fellow golfing friends!
Good value
First time playing the course did not know what to expect. Let's just say pleasantly surprised. I found the course in really good shape, greens were also in great shape. Look forward to playing again.
Northwoods is BACK!
I have lived in Columbia since 2002, but have avoided Northwoods for about the last 8 or 9 years for reasons such as bad greens, course conditions, no water on the course, and unfriendly staff. The course has made a 180 degree turnaround and I will be back there as often as possible. There are still some brown spots in fairways, but the recent heat has been punishing to all of the local courses. The staff at Northwoods is doing a great job keeping this course in good conditions and the greens are some of the nicest in the Columbia area - they are fast and they roll true. Do yourself a favor and get out to the Spur at Northwoods soon!
Course was well maintained
Not near as dry and burnt out as many of the other public courses around. Only complaint was the sprinklers being ran for three of the holes
Great Time
I always enjoy playing the Spur at Northwoods. Greens roll true, course is in great shape and the staff is always friendly. I cant wait to play it again!
Must play!
The Spur at Northwoods is one of my favorite courses in Columbia. The greens were in excellent shape and the layout is challenging. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you get a chance, go by and visit the Spur at Northwoods. Greg and the crew will take good care of you!
Gettin Better
The track has certainly improved and looks like they are doing the right things to make the course better. The greens look the best I've seen them in some time. The bunkers still need more work to finish them but overall was a good experience. We'll certainly play here more in the future.
Saturday 6/29 Review
Course is in good shape. Greens have recovered very well from the summer punch and are rolling well. Rough is growing in nicely and the fairways are nearly perfect. They’ve done a great job turning this course around and I’m happy to add it back to the rotation.
In the best shape in years
Greens could actually hold shots and were not bouncy. The fairways and rough were in good shape. For some reason the tee boxes not as good as I’ve seen them. I will go back. Groups were stacked up a little bit, but that’s normal for a public course.
Very good
Great layout, greens were nice and the price was fantastic!
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
