About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Sunday AM golf
Nice course though somewhat wet from recent rain.
Good layout and fair to good shape.
Several long par 3's
Rip off for Masters week
Course was in very bad shape. Lots of blind shots so difficult to play for the first time. Staff like to say “no” when asked about anything. Would not go back for 60 bucks a round. Played Oak Hills yesterday for 40... much better condition and facilities.
Fun day at The Spur
Still have flooded fairways and sand traps not draining properly. Fix that and all’s good.

Slow play if you get stuck behind two Fivesomes
The course apparently allows fivesomes. We were down from the north and had a lot of patience as we were happy to be playing golf and out of the snow back home. Very slow play with two fivesomes ahead of us on a Saturday at 11:00 a.m. group behind us called the pro shop and ranger came out and stated fivesomes were allowed and those guys in the fivesomes play here all the time? I was also playing with my wife and daughter and they don’t like playing through (not that either fivesome offered at anytime).
Course had a nice layout, for the time of the year the greens were rolling nice. They had a lot of rain in the last month and the course was wet but getting better. Loved the par 3’s on this course, great distances and cool holes.
If you can avoid getting stuck behind the fivesomes it a fun coarse with a nice driving range and practice area.

Is coming together in a great way
Have been playing at this course for the last 2-3 months. It’s in the works since then and has been improving every time I visit. The Tees and Greens are in great condition . Some of the fairways have a water retention challenge and I am sure they will be good by next year. From what I hear this was Dustin Johnson’s home course while growing up. Now we know why he is great. Do visit the course and enjoy nature at its best.
Fivesomes allowed..
I've been Playing golf since 11yrs old, 53 yrs old now. I have lived in Columbia since '97 and played this course 100 times, I have always liked this course. Saturday for the first time in my golf life I heard a pro say they allow Fivesomes. We had 2 fivesomes in front of us holding up the entire course. I called in from the eighth tee to get help and the response was they allow it, "we allow fivesomes everyday," without any apology.
If you like a slow day behind 10 players, go play here. It's a new breakthrough in golf and golf etiquette at Northwoods!

Fun layout
Great course for the value. Challenging and interesting layout.
Great Day at The Spur @ Northwoods!
We had a wonderful 18 holes of golf today. The 83 degree temperature and great condition of the greens helped. Still some muddy areas here and there, but overall very playable. Will definitely return ASAP!
Nice greens & tee box
Played course after lots of rain and cloudy weather past week. Greens are very nice and quick. Tee boxes were in good shape too. The course was very wet from too much rain the last week. I anticipate the fairways are solid in the regular season. I plan to play here more.
Good coirse
It was a good coiurse. Pace of play was slow. Had 3 people in front of us hitting multiple shots after errant shots.
Work well done
Within the last year they have redone the greens and it really shows. Extremely smooth putting. They work they have done lately certainly shows. Will definitely play here again.
Disappointed
I was expecting a lot more with them shutting down and fixing the course up. The place needs a lot of work. It’s a $15 dollar course, charging $42 is a joke.
Day After
We played the day after the hurricane came through the Columbia area. The course was fine . Fairways and greens were good. Rough was deep and wet. If you don’t hit fairways balls in the rough often sit down in the Bermuda rough and are hard to find. Their new greens are were hard to hold for my group. This is a longer senior course than most we play. We got a great price on Golf Now and it’s well worth the price. Challenging layout .
