Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Greens are in good condition
Great course. And the greens are in great shape. Wish the tee boxes were more flat. Best course for your money around columbia.
Only negative feedback is the cart paths are very poor and the pace of play was very slow and there were no rangers out there to keep players in pace with the group in front of them
Great course layout
Friendly staff in pro shop. Nice course. Well maintained. Had a great time.
Dump
No other way to describe this once really nice course… also greens have been freshly sanded and aerated without notice to Golf Now clients… will not be back.
Needs some love
I like the layout and the convenient location, but as it been said before, the course needs some work and love poured into it. I imagine the fairways will grow in as the year progresses. The green on hole 11 is abysmal and it needs to keep getting fair until it is fixed. I had a good time and there are some very fun holes. I would play Asian only if there was a strong discount to make it worth it.
Thanks for having me.

Difficult PAce of Play
I know its masters week, but they sent a fivesome out and it took us 3 hours to play 9, we left, not worth the trouble

The Spur has a few spurs
My golf bud and I booked this course as we had a day trip to another function in the afternoon. We are from the Atlanta area, so needless to say we’re somewhat spoiled with the true variety that is available. First, the price point was overpriced - it is not a $50 course even on the weekend. The cart paths were tree-rooted (bumpy and broken) or non-existent. Fairways in many places were quite sparse - little to no grass in areas. The back nine greens (where we started) needed some work, bare in spots or sandy. I play a course at home that is in better shape, with much better greens and overall conditions and I only pay $30 on the weekends. I do get discount because of military status, but for $50, even on the weekend, Northwoods Spur should be in much better condition.

Good layout, poor condition, slow play, a bit too pricey for the value.
Not a great value per mediocre conditions, but the layout was good, especially the back 9 w/ some good risk reward holes, a driveable par 4 followed by a long par 4 w/ approach over water; good variety. No houses lining holes gave it an authentic golf feel. Pace of play was not good. Range was closed and they neglected to mention it when we called. Overall: a B-
