Village Greens Golf & Country Club
About
Village Greens Golf Club sprawls across over 100 acres of what used to be farmland situated between Inman and Gramling. Remnants of the old farm can be seen throughout the course, including pear trees from the original orchard that line the 10th fairway. When the golf course was built in 1969, many new trees were planted but much care was taken so as not to obstruct the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, providing nearly every hole with views that stretch from Glassy Mountain to Chimney Rock. The layout has a classic design that is playable for a wide range of skill levels. Sparkling lakes and ponds accent the landscape, coming into play on a few holes. Village Greens Golf Club's most memorable water hole is the course's signature sixth. This short par 3 features a semi-island green that is surrounded by water on two sides, along with three bunkers and out-of-bounds on the right.

Nice Course
Nice public course for the cost. Pace of play is not great, tee times are 8 min apart.
Tee times every 8 minutes???
The course had posted “expected play time of 2 hours and 15 minutes per 9.” That’s a 4:30 round…. And yes, 15 minutes per hole…
Hole 1 - par 5. (Yep, tee times every 8 minutes works)
Hole 2 - short par 4 - sharp dogleg left.
4 groups playing hole 2. One on the green, one on the fairway, 2 foursomes waiting on the tee…. 25 minutes to play that hole…
First 3 holes took 1 hour…
5:45 minute round…
Why tee times every 8 minutes? To stuff the course with players, collect the cash $, ruin your day!
Village Greens, do the math…. Why 8 minute tee times???
Overall worthwhile for the money
Village Greens has always been consistently in good shape. The greens were very fast although they didn't look it and the overall course condition was good. Fairways were firm and lots of grass to tear up!
The staff has NEVER been friendly so we just know that when we go out there. Other than that, great round for the money.
Course looking really good.
Most of the tee boxes are in good shape, some of the Whites could use some help/actual grass. All the fairways are in great shape, even the first cut rough is great. Most of the greens are perfect but some, mainly because they are in low lying areas, are patchy. The course is, overall, very pretty and well kept/ maintained. Challenging at times with some blind shots but forgiving all the same. I would like to see the stairs to the boxes rebuilt on the ones that have stone falling apart and the railroad ties that are decaying. I love the challenge of all the water throughout the course…intimidating yet fun to hit shots over them. The club house is excellent as well as the practice range and putting/chipping green.
Still good
Greens are aerated but still rolled decent.
About 3 of the greens had new sod cuts away from the hole.
All of the par 5's except for 18 are basically par 4's. The entire course is extremely short (Barely over 6k yards from the back).
Only a few blind shots, mostly off the tee but it's a fun course to go back to and be aggressive.
Super easy overall, you have to miss pretty badly to get into trouble.
Beautiful condition
One of my favorite courses in the area. Grounds crew should be very proud of the work they’ve put in, it really shows on a Sunday morning. Only issue we had was staff-related. Called the clubhouse to place an order at the turn, we were told the kitchen guy didn’t come in yet. That happens, no big deal. We went directly from the 9th to the 10th since the grill was closed. Apparently the group in front of us took a long break at the turn. They ended up behind us and bottlenecked the course a bit. The Ranger was pretty rude for a beautiful Sunday morning. Exclaimed we needed to pick up the pace. We played 18 in 3 hours and 44 minutes. Just recommend the Rangers know what they’re talking about before they jump on paying customers. We will certainly be back and we will certainly recommend.
Good bang for your buck
Course was in good shape, there was still a good bit of sand on the greens but overall it was nice. Pace of play at times got slow with two groups waiting on a tee box but the staff was out trying to speed things along.
Great Course For Money
Me and my buddy played here for first time and had heard mixed reviews prior to playing. I was very surprised how nice the course actually was. We played 18 then decided to play another 18. The greens were in great shape and rolled well, the layout is challenging but enjoyable and employees weee friendly. There were a few tee boxes that needed tlc like #10 but overall course was great. Will be back to play soon.
Nice course and good value
I enjoyed this course. It’s not immaculate, but it is a course that is fun to play. It’s pretty forgiving, and the roughs are playable. Greens are a little inconsistent on speeds and the bunkers could use 3” more of sand, but overall for the price and pace you can’t beat it.
Love the course, so does everyone else
Village Greens is a fun course. It's one of my favorite places in the area. However, there is no starter/ranger M-W. So we played Friday. Tee Times were running behind by 2 spots by the time we went off. The front 9 played relatively reasonable, 2 hours. However, at the turn things changed. We were the 3rd group waiting on the 10th tee. It improved only slightly the entire back 9, watching the group in front tee off on every subsequent hole. We skipped 18 due to an appointment or the round would have ventured into 4 hours and 45 minutes. Brutal pace.
