About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Golfer Reviews
Good conditions and new paths
Mid-afternoon start on a humid Saturday. There's now a net between #1 and the range - no more range balls on #1!
Several fairways had numerous brown/yellow patches - unknown if that is due to heat, lack of water, or ?? Didn't really affect playability. Course seemed a bit dry throughout.
New paths are much appreciated!
I've never through of WWG as a value round, but the greens are generally great and it's a nice collection of holes.
Fun day, pace of play makes a difference
Pace of play much better on Saturday of a holiday weekend versus weekday afternoon two days prior. Honestly it’s the difference between 2/3 stars and 5 stars to many frequent golfers. This was an enjoyable outing. Thanks
SO SLOW
Took almost 5 hours to play 18... way too many people on the course
Extraordinarily slow play
13 holes in 3:45 on a weekday afternoon. Ridiculous. Only play here if you can stand on every tee box for 20 min and keep focused. Multiple players/groups seen quitting because of pace. I had to quit because of an engagement .. next month. A shame really, because course is convenient and in good shape. But always $$$ matter most rather than providing a pleasant experience.
Challenging
Challenging course and it’s in great shape. The fairways are plush and have been sanded but still rolling OK.The bunkers had decent sand in them compared to a lot of others in the area. It’s not the longest course but it does make you hit all your shots in your arsenal. One of my favorites in the Raleigh area.
Great Conditions
Walked 11 holes as a single late on a humid NC afternoon. Fairways, greens and tees are in great shape. Didn't much use the new cart paths, but they look to be significantly improved. Only negative was the tree debris on the sides of a few holes, but it was in places I shouldn't have been anyway.
Course in Great Shape
Course was in great shape. Greens were solid, no ball marks or bare spots. Bunkers were nice with fresh clean sand. Fairways were nice and lush. I played in the early afternoon and wasn’t rushed.
Very Slow, So Many Rules
Pros:
GPS in carts - very nice
Greens condition - excellent
Cons:
Very slow pace - had 4 carts in the group ahead of us, waiting on every tee box as a 2-some. Ranger passed multiple times and said "it's just busy today"
Constantly bombarded with rules and "Do Not" signs in the clubhouse, on the range, on the course, on the GPS screen.
Does not create a welcoming or inviting vibe for enjoying a round of golf.
