Wildwood Green Golf Course
About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Fast and Firm
Played the front nine late on a Friday. Off on time, finished in 2:10, which is good for Wwood. Course is very dry throughout some of the tees take some work to get a peg in. Green are nice as usual, There looks to be a fair amount of maintenance work going on. Paths continue to be upgraded.
Everything as Advertised
Always a great time at Wildwood. Starter allowed me to go off as a single and completed round in three (3) hours. Greens are in mint shape. Thanks Wildwood! Where Great Golf Happens!!!
Not What I Expected
Played course for the first time with my son and we were both disappointed. After reading the 4 star reviews, we thought we'd try it. But the fairways were punched and very hard so it was tough to strike the ball cleanly. We weren't made aware of this prior to the round. Greens were in good shape and the routing of holes was decent. However, the pace of play was very slow (4.5 hrs) and we even encountered a sixsome on the 10th hole that we had to play around or the round would've taken us over 5 hours! The staff was friendly and the food was good but really wish we told about the fairways and hoped there would be more oversight on the pace of play, Allowing a sixsome on the course was unforgivable. We probably won't be back anytime soon.
Some Good Improvements at WWG
WWG has made some nice improvements to the course in the past year.....repaved cart paths, removed trees. Next project should be to rework all the sand bunkers with fresh sand. Most of them this day were very compacted with minimal sand. Layout is good, greens were in good condition....fairways were surprisingly thin.
I'll check them out again mid-summer when the Bermuda grass should have filled in from the heat.
Great place to golf
The condition of the course was very good, especially the greens. Smooth and true rolling. Many trees and bushes were removed making it much easier to find a wayward ball. Pace of play was 4 hours exactly. Hole 15 was closed due to reworking the bunkers, which needed it. Hole 8 played as a par 3 due to repaving cart paths. Everything else was in great shape. A big thumbs up for the course.
Information Prior to Round
It would have been nice to know that the back 9 was closed for construction before getting to the course.
The course was nice. A very friendly lady name Tanya took care of our group. She was very outgoing made the group feel welcomed. She definitely made us laugh have a great time after good round with a few beers. Can't wait to play again hopefully we will be able to see a big smile.
Communication
Course was in decent shape for February. That said, #15 was closed for major bunker maintenance. This was not communicated when booking the round, at the clubhouse, or by the starter. This information should be communicated to the player while booking.
Got in 18 holes December afternoon
The starter let us off 1 hour early and we got all 18 in before dark. No one in front and no one behind. Perfection! Course is in great shape given the time of year in NC.
