Good time with a good friend
I think this course has a lot of potential but it's lacking. The tee boxes were in rough shape, they were dry and not sure when the last time they moved the markers. Fairways were dormant and hard, the greens were in good shape. The greens were a little fast but that's fine with me. I love the layout and like I said earlier it has a lot of potential.
Stay Away
I have been playing here off and on for years. Service has always been bad but tolerable. Last two times here it's been awful. Overbooked tee times. Last Saturday there were 12 people at the tee box @ 7 AM that all were told the same thing, "come on in at 7AM, there's no one in front of you" I brought this to the attention of the manager and he didn't even apologize. I live 5 mins away and I'll never be back.
Needs TLC
Course was not in great shape. Fairways really thin, really hard. Greens very long, very slow.
Pace of play was also lacking. Too many twosomes, too few rangers. (i.e. none)
It's an interesting course, just needs some TLC.
Good condition, nice staff, grill was closed
The course was in good condition, with the greens full. They were slow (it's been hot, today was 95F), and grainy. Fairways were firm.
My only complaint was I told the desk that I was going to walk, but wasn't told how difficult it was to find water on the course. We finally did find one spigot on #15.
Otherwise, we were pleased with condition and the course.
Little Hidden Gem
Bonnie Brae is a golf course with the rare feature of being moderate to even low priced that offers above average value. In fact, there are several holes on this little gem that I feel could compete with any hole in the county. And make no mistake, there are many fine courses in the area. But, BB keeps it real and affordable and the staff is humble and the cost is modest. I keep BB on my list of playable, affordable, but places to play and get over there as often as I can. There are 4 or 5 courses closer to me, but I'll drive past them to get to Bonnie Brae often times.
Fun course
This course will not blow your socks off, but it is very fun. I've been playing it for nearly 20 years and always enjoy the round. The set-up of the course is interesting and can be challenging without leaving you feeling defeated.
