Destruction
Thanks for selling out in the name of money and greed. So many people enjoyed this place as the rip and tear every tree from it, plow down the hill to build even more big ugly homes with tiny lots. Gone are the days where they build to coexist with nature but greed wipes it out to stuff as many more people in as they can. Into an area where the roads can’t even support this traffic. The owners of this golf course sold out to greed.
Course Permanently Closed
This golf course has been sold by the owners to build a housing development.
Elevation Changes make this Course Long but Interesting
This review is from the forward tees (4940 yards) but my tip applies to all - I have never played a course with so many uphill holes and if you are not a long hitter, consider moving up a set of tees.
We did play on a cold and windy day, and some holes were a bit wet (from rain earlier in the week). But still both my partner (a male) and I had to club up on many holes. On some holes club up 1 club for the elevation change and 1 club for the wind in our face.
The #1 handicap hole is rated correctly - it is very long and extremely uphill. From the forward tees it is 435 yards (which is long anyway) then add the elevation and if you are a women that hits her drive at 150 or less, you probably won't have a chance to par this hole.
I always look at the par 3 holes to decide if I will play the forward tees or one back. The front nine par threes are very long on this course (Hole 4 is 154 yards, and Hole 8 is 153 yards). The back nine - Hole 15 is the only "normal" par 3 at 109 yards and no elevation change. Hole 17 is 110 on the card but again all uphill.
The greens are in great shape - interesting breaks and roll at a decent speed (fast but not crazy fast).
You will end your day on 18, driving you ball over the pond and then you have an uphill approach shot.
I gave a 2-star rating on pace of play because the front nine we moved along well but on the back we waited on every hole. It appeared the group in front of us were fine but the group in front of them were really struggling (because the group in front of us were waiting on every hole and at one point, you could see the holes ahead and they were empty).
The Carts are older (no GPS). Also be careful where you decide to drive the cart. For example, on hole 2, if you miss left, don't take the cart up that hill. My partner tried it and I thought he was (1) going to turn over or (2) burn out the engine on the cart. I did not go up in the cart with him. LOL
The staff was friendly, I did not eat in the grill but there seemed to be a lot of guys eating so I assume the food is good.
They have a driving range (sign said "irons only"), a short game area, and a putting green up by the first tee. So if you like to warmup, you have options.
Overall, I enjoyed this course and will go back again. I really want to see how it plays with out the wind, wet and cold conditions.
Great
Course is in great shape. They charged me more than they should have (senior) but other than that had a great time.
Great times
Great times..... the course is in great shape! The greens are fast smooth and receptive!
Very slow
Played on Good Friday so we knew it would be crowded, but my partner and I waited on average 10 minutes between every hole and this isn't an exaggeration. The waiting began on the 3rd hole and lasted until the end of the round. All in all, we played about 2.5 hours and waited 2.5 hours. Course and greens in great shape, but just wish there was someone to hurry along the slower groups.
Needs time
They have some of the best greens in the Upstate of S.C.But the grass needs time to grow in,tuff to chip when there’s not a lot of grass in areas.
First time on this track
Second group out for the day. Glad I was with a pair that new the course. Good mixture of hole layouts. Greens were true and very undulating a real challenge. Tee boxes could have been in better shape but that's my only negative. Will definitely be back now I know where the bailouts are.
Nice coarse
Had a great day to play and joined 3 really nice and good players. Greens are in very good condition. Fairways and tees still need to fill in a little more. Enjoyable course.
Always a good time
The staff has done an amazing job in recovering the course from the recent 100 year floods. Its a work on progress but the course is very playable. Look forward to getting back.
Don’t get behind the group of 6
Not a bad course at all. Some more open fairways to really lay into your driver. They did put a group of walkers in front of us at the turn, and there was a group of 6 in front of them. It got so backed up on the back nine it was horrible. Waiting was a pain. Not bad for the money..... greens were kept in good shape, just a little bit too soft. One of the par 4’s on the back is played as a 3 due to the recent flooding in February.
Great place to play
This course is about 5mins from my house so I love how close it is. They keep the greens in and fairways in pretty good shape. A few holes were affected from flooding so were they may normally be a par 4 or 5 had to be played as par 3s while they make repairs.
