The Preserve at Verdae
About
The Preserve at Verdae sprawls across a lush landscape of rolling hills and meadows covered with beautiful Carolina forests. Formerly known as Verdae Greens, the golf course was completely revamped but one of the primary goals of the renovation was to find harmony between golf and nature. The carefully reworked course does just that, blending seamlessly into its scenic surroundings. Rambling brooks wander across the layout and provide water hazards on a few holes. The wind is also a major factor on this golf course. The breezes can be either light and refreshing or strong and blustery, making proper club selection even more important. The most photographed hole on the golf course is the par-3 second. If you're lucky enough to come when the azaleas are blooming, this hole offers a breathtaking setting.

Aerification in progress
The course is still great, greens obviously not gonna perform how they should in wet conditions due to the maintenance, hated that part but you just have to play a different way, my second time here and I still love the layout. Pace of play was great but it was a Friday not a weekend. Kinda surprised they don’t have screens on every cart, most places do now. Was able to play as a single which was cool too, first time doing that here. Obviously won’t happen on the weekends. I’d go again
Nice course
I only played the front 9. Staff was super friendly. Turf was well maintained. The greens had been punched recently, but they advised of this, and offered a discounted rate.
Nice, fair layout (a bit tight), but the 8th hole is adjacent to the interstate.
I did not stick around to try out food and drink.
Premier golf course and incredible staff
This is my second time playing the course and unfortunately I played it during the week the greens were being aerated and treated with sand. This made true putting impossible. Due to this, there was a low volume of traffic on the course. The one thing that did surprise me is that the golf carts do not come equipped with a GPS monitor that would give you yardage or scoring. Every course I’ve played seems to have this as a standard feature on their carts. Kind of a letdown.
Verdae is very good!
Great layout for the money and conditions were great.
Great afternoon
We enjoyed a late Friday afternoon 9. Greens were bumpy from recent aeration, but the course overall was in good shape. It's a demanding layout that punishes bad shots. We'd played before, but definitely get the course guide if you are a 1st timer -- there are several holes where driver off the tee is a bad choice but that isn't obvious. pace of play was not a problem, but it can be on the weekends. We did 2:10 for our 9 and were neither pushed nor waiting
Rainy Day
Got very lucky. Poured down all the way up to my tee time. Stopped raining 5 mins before tee time and didn’t rain once while on the course. Had the whole place to myself. It was amazing. Course was in excellent shape. Really happy I booked the tee time.
Embassy Suites
We stayed at the adjacent hotel.. They had a tourney and closed the course. We had the second tee time and got to course right when the ended the tournament. Was disappointed that they would let our twosome to play on an empty course but made us wait 30 minutes for our tee time. The course mgmt imo needs work. We did enjoy the condition and design of the course. The round took almost 5 hours when it could have been less than 4 hours! No hurry to get back based on management!
Slowest Round Ever!
I bought tee time Hot Deal for 12:40. The pro shop called me a few days before and told me they needed to move tee time up to 12:20 which worked out OK. So we get there at 11:30 to putt and hit range balls. At 11:55 ranger tells us we are going off at 12 now, so had to leave "expensive" range balls ($10 for 25 balls) for someone else to hit. It then takes us 5 hours and 15 min to play, had to wait 5-10 min between each shot because of slow group in front of us, and no ranger to be seen all day to check pace of play. Would play the course during week, but never on weekend again. Seems like it was stacked pretty tight even with the slow group in front of us that wouldn't let us play through. Was expecting 4 hour round since just 3 of us, but turned into one of the longest rounds I ever played.
Fair but challenging
Really like the design. Not many easy holes. Seemed like about a third had a stream or lake crossing just in front of the green. Many were narrow with lots of trees to both sides. Greens had a lot of undulation. Several were under repair with new sod in damaged areas of the green.
