Marshland and natural lagoons make Charleston National a real gem to play. Architect Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead strategically placed wooden bridges over the natural areas which sometimes range from tee to green. Once tree laden, it's now a little more open, which may be to your advantage. A trip to Charleston National should be considered by any serious golfer visiting the Charleston area.

longest round

course was in an expected shape for feb. brown fairways, weeds here and there. but for the price i would expect better. it seems the location is the only thing that lets them price this course up this high. they really pack the groups also. started at 1230 and did not get done till 515.

Scenic and challenging

The course was in very good shape for winter. Course was fairly tough and the strong winds didn't help. Greens were in very good shape and most had lots of undulation. Course knowledge is very helpful, this was my first round and on some holes it is very easy to hit through the fairway and into trouble. Very scenic, especially on the back 9. I will definitely return in the spring/summer when things are greener and I have a better idea what club to hit off each tee.

This course has an excellent backdrop and a beautiful layout.

This was one of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever played. My family and I went down to South Carolina for a quick Christmas getaway and this Golf Course sure does rank highly on my top golf course list. From the par 3's that are a force carry over water or the bridges over the marshes, the alligators and the beautiful inter-coastal view. The Greens are perfect and roll about 10 on the Stimp meter. Challenging course and if you play a long ball, you are able to reach the par 5's in two. The course also requires extremely accurate shots and favors the player who is a shot maker rather than a ball striker . I really liked this course and I think my favorite hole is the par 3 18, and challenging par 4 ,15.

The course was in very good condition, fast greens, which I like, and you can't beat the surroundings.

Wow! Very impressed with this course. It was long at times, but overall very fair, having to hit all shots in your bag. It was too
good of a test in golf. I failed that test. Also, I want to point out that I went to your practice facility down the street for the first time, and I was really striping it, then went out to the course, I
couldn't repeat the great practice. Not your fault though... Can't wait to go back!

Great greens rolled true.

We booked our tee time a few days in advance and had no problems getting an early time. When we arrived we were greeted by a staff member and check in was great. We arrived at the first tee a little before our tee time and the starter got us right out after some brief instructions. The course was in good shape and the greens were fantastic. The course was straight forward until you got to number 15 & 16 which were a little tricked up for my taste. The course finished strong and we were very pleased over all. We would definitely play here again when visiting Charleston.

The course is in a great location.

The greens were in excellent condition, but they are much slower than most of the greens around this area. I also live how the course is spread out and you get to see so much of the area. Finally, the course has some challenging holes but the views are great and we had a great time out here.

Well maintained, fun and very challenging

This is an excellent course that plays very difficult in the wind. Bunkers, fairways were in great shape, greens were excellent shape and putted true and fast. This course makes you think; if you want to score well you need accurate yardages on virtually every shot. Clubhouse was clean and service was fast. The par 4, 8th hole at 445 yards should be a par 5.
