Never alerted about being punch
Usually there’s a warning about being punched. Not this time if I’d known I’d never have booked but other than that it was fine
Nice course - will come back again
This was the first time playing Newberry and I really enjoyed it. It was forgiving enough for the errant slice but still challenging enough to make it interesting (especially having a good amount of sand traps in front of the greens).
The fairways were in good shape where I felt like I had a decent lie to hit from. Some the of greens though were a bit more burned out along the edges which was disappointing to see (especially the 18th hole)
The day I went on (Tuesday) the course was not busy and I just went out as a single and had a very relaxing round where I pretty much had the course to myself!. They were doing a lot of watering of the holes (the first few) which may have kept people away so I had to wait a few minutes before the watering was completed but the greenskeepers finally saw me coming after the 3rd hole and shut off the water to let me play through.
All in all, a good course to play on and will definitely be back to play it again!
Needs Sand!!!
This course is in the best shape I've seen in 4 years.......except......NEED SAND IN GREENSIDE BUNKERS!!! Was in 5 today, and only 1 had more than a 1/2" of sand under the ball. Other than that, tees & fairways had excellent turf, and the greens were smooth & quick. A great layout, and seems to always play longer than the card, with plenty of trouble to get into. They've recently spruced up the locker rooms & supposedly are going to upgrade/remodel their "19th hole" soon. With those bar improvements & with bunkers that have sand & were consistent, this would be a 5 star course for sure. Great Value.
Looking good
Course is coming in well through the spring. They did verticut the greens and they should be fine in a couple of days.
Nice Day at Newberry CC
Course is in good condition - some work going on while we were there and I expect it to be in even better condition in the future.
Nice course!
Got a cart that hadn't been cleaned out that died and had to be replaced when I left the putting green at my tee time.
A fivesome held several groups up on the back nine for several holes, a ranger would have been nice.
Lots of anthills , a few bare spots.
A work in progress.
The fairways and greens are what I expected for winter conditions. They should be fine once the grass starts growing. A few bunkers have been worked on but there are many more in neglect. Needs lots of work on the senior tee boxes . I will return once they have time to work on these areas.
Golfing Fun
A wonderful course - A few harder holes but not to extreme
If I lived close it would be a course you would want to be a member of!
Chicken Salad Sandwich was really good!!!
Always enjoy this course
Greens weee ok. Love the layout and variety of shots that you have to hit on this course. Staff is always friendly . Will keep on my playlist
Course is still wet.
Course is coming along but still wet.I'm sure that will change with the warmer weather approaching. Greens are still quick. It was a beautiful day to play.
Course is still wet.
Conditions are good, just wet, wet, wet. Still enjoyable.
Country Club of Newberry
This is a very good deal for the money. I will be back. The lady handling the snack bar is fantastic. Had a chicken salad sandwich and it was also delicious!!
Course is still a little wet.
Course is in good condition for winter play. It is still a little wet from a lot of recent rain. I certainly recommend playing this course.
Love to play!!
This course screams historic old southern country club. Old clubhouse in need of some renovation. Layout is splendid. Greens are pretty good for this time of year. Tee boxes are horrible. It was wet but everything in the southeast is wet right now. Pace of play was decent. Got jumped in front of at the turn by 2 younger guys. Probably teens. They had no respect for anyone around. If these are members of a private club it should embarrassing to not know anything about the game. I am all for enjoying myself but not at the expense of others. I will play again in better conditions. I would recommend anyone that simply loves to play or likes historic tracks to give it a whirl.
Not a bad little course
The good - the course is in decent shape and will probably be very nice during the season when the grass has had a chance to grow in. The greens rolled true and it was fun.
The bad - the driving ranger is only open to members
The ugly - so minimally staffed. Only one person could staff the pro shop and the snack bar, which were on opposite sides of the clubhouse.
