Great day
Started round at 9:49 and was wound up playing alone. There was a foursome in front of me but I played 2 balls and was rarely held up. Finished the round in 4 hours. The course and greens we're in great condition. A couple of tee boxes were so so but no big deal. Bright sun, cool temps and a good golf course equals a great day.
Needs repairs
No one wearing mask in the clubhouse. Clubhouse could use some upgrade/remodeling for 2020. Had groups of 6 and 8 people on a tee at a time with no starter / marshal. The facilities on the course were either locked ( with no notice in the clubhouse) or they were nastier then a truck stop gas station.
What Yard Markers
I missed seeing a 150 yard post to gauge my distance into the green. Finding a marker in the fairway was difficult at best. Strips on the paths were hit or miss.
Great course
I really enjoyed this course the fairways and greens were in great shape the layout was awesome. We played from the tips which was 6600 yards and it was a challenge but a fun one im definitely going back
Good value and great conditions
First time out here today so wasn’t sure what to expect. Booked it with a promo code so it worked out to be about $25/person with a cart. They had club championship this weekend so pins were in tricky spots. Greens and tee boxes were in good condition. Fairway was fine as well. A few forced carries over water but forward tees avoid most of this. Not a ton of amenities in pro shop, but not a problem for me. Pace of play was tough as group in front of us was semi-oblivious to what was going on and would randomly sit in their cart and wait to hit shots. Forced group behind us to bump into us and hit a couple of shots right by our feet as we were on the green. Just take a minute and relax. Not course’s fault though. Overall, course was in really condition and good value for the price. Only issue was the complete lack of COVID protocol being followed in pro shop. No masks whatsoever on employees or players. Would be five stars otherwise. Worth the trek from Charlotte if there’s a good deal.
Great course for the money
White Plains is a great course for the dollar. Anyone looking to play a nicely kept course for just a little north of $30.00 a round I highly suggest making the trip. Friendly staff and nice course. Pace was perfect for someone who is not a very good golfer(me). It’s worth the drive.
Nice short course
Greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in great shape. Course was a little wet but rained the night before. If you miss the fairways, some of the other rough areas are rough. Very little trouble on the course. The locals were very friendly and we actually played through 6 groups! All in all, nice course.
Fun course
First off, didn’t play that well but I had fun. The course had nothing to do with my inability to score well. There are a few tee boxes that need some work but I think they are working on them. The fairways are in good shape as are the greens although they seem to be drying out. They seemed hard to me. The staff have always been friendly. I always have enjoyed this course and for a deal on GolfNow for $24 with a 9:50 tee time you just can’t beat it.
Great course
Course is in great condition. Only setback is the cart paths and they don't have much in ther snack bar, but that's bit a deal breaker here. It's a short track with some difficult holes. Shot shaping will play into this layout. I'll be going back and I would recommend this course.
Will always return to White Plains
This course is awesome. The staff, the course, nice carts, and a great value. I'll always take the drive out here.
The Hidden Jewel
This is one of NC Golf’s greatest secrets. The course layout is both challenging for the intermediate player but forgiving for the beginner. The greens are kept in great shape. I can’t think of a single green that has any bad spots on it. When your shot into the green is as it should be the divot will catch and stop the ball to lessen the continued forward momentum.
The fairways are ok and there are some areas that need work but overall they do allow for both the beginner and the intermediate player to be challenged and rewarded. If you stay in the fairways you will have great opportunities to get low scores. I would recommend accepting the extra stroke to chip back into the fairway instead of going for the green when you find your drive in the extreme rough area. However if you have the shot in your bag sometimes the reward for going for the green is worth it.
The T-boxes do leave lots of room for improvement. There are some that just needs lots of TLC. The staff, I am sure are focused on keeping the greens in shape and have made that their priority but some of the boxes is like driving a 10 penny nail into a 2X4 board. Speaking of the staff, they are great to work with. Their hospitality is excellent and they work hard to accommodate your requests.
