First time at chickasaw
Drove about 45 minutes to play this course while on vacay. I was not disappointed. The course was in very good shape, was a good challenge of golf and was fun to play. Lots of blind tee shots, sloped fairways and lots of undulations on the greens. Carts did not have GPS and I would suggest that you bring GPS devices if you have them. I did not. Lost multiple strokes due to lack of distances and lack of course knowledge. It was a lot of fun and the combination of golf, friendliness of the staff and members made for a great day. Definitely recommend playing at Chickasaw Point!
Chickasaw 06/24
Course was in great shape, layout is great and staff is very friendly. The one complaint I have is they were having a tournament for a wedding party and that was not advertised, so the pace of play was very slow. I will still play the course whenever possible as this was a one-off bad experience there.
Great local course
Took us out is a great local course and it is in great shape. Some of the holes are very narrow and ball placement is important. Don’t expect a beverage cart, but the pro shop has a few snacks and drinks to purchase. There are no coolers on the carts either to hold the beverages you purchase. The community has done a great job with this golf course. The restaurant, the overlook is a nice addition But be sure to check the hours.
Challenging Course
Fun course to play. Almost all the holes have huge slopes to play off the tee. Knowing where and what clubs to hit off the tee box is a great advantage as there are many bind and sloping tee shots. Greens were a little sandy but overall they rolled okay.
Love this course!
Greens were in excellent shape, fairways and tees above average. We encountered a few areas that need a little grass work, but overall no complaints .Course isn’t overly long but demands a precise shot or you’ll be digging in your bag for another ball. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and friendly. It’s a challenging and fun 18 holes of golf.
Tough little layout
Would love to play it again...when the greens are ready after being punched. They we soft, slow, and furry. The course is difficult despite the shorter length. The blind tee shots and uphill approaches make it play much longer. It is quite a test.
Good
It was my first time going and the course was very fun. The fast greens also make me nervous and I definitely want to go there again.
Challenging Course, Great Staff
Every now and then you run into a situation where the staff and players were super friendly, the course was challenging and well kept and the weather perfect. Today was one of those days. This course is located in the foothills of the Appalachians. Rolling hills with fairways that run on top of hills, along the slides and in the valleys. Most lies are uneven. Every green was very well kept. I look forward to playing the course again.
Yikes
Hilly, but fair, no flat greens. Fun all the same.
Way to high
I love course but now days it way over price should have never built new clubhouse now they want golfers to pay for it got to point they dont want public to play its like they in there own little world i never play there again i got arrowhead to play near my house its way better anyway hoa has ruin this place
Will play again when green
Interesting course nestled in a community. It was winter golf but the greens were in excellent shape. I say that even after 3 putting many of them. Ok the first green is a bit ridiculous and perhaps should be reshaped but I just say it provides an extra challenge. Course has a few pretty tight holes and local knowledge for drive placement and how the greens roll would have helped. I'll try it again in the summer months.
Golf instruction
I’ve taken three lessons from Luke Watkins the local pro. Luke makes learning your swing very simple and fun. Three weeks ago I could not hit an iron to save my life, yesterday I hit an 8 iron 150 yds within 20 feet of the flag.. it only happened once, but a few weeks ago this would have been impossible.
Great Experience!
I have been reading golf advisor for some time now but joined specifically to give this course kudos. Played today with a 12pm tee time (got off earlier though) and was finished in about 2.5 hours. Excellent! Pace of play is big in my book. Staff was very friendly. Course was in perfect condition. One par 5 was shortened to a par 3 while they repaired some drainage. I actually appreciated this rather than them ruining their hard work on repair.
Tee boxes were in good shape as were the fairways. Greens were spotless (not even a pitch mark went unrepaired). Greens were admittedly on the lower side (recent rain in the area) but that doesn't bother me although I know some take that into consideration. I'm sure they would have been quicker if not for recent storms. They still rolled true and the balls didn't bounce off line.
Lots of slope (don't recall too many flat lies) but that's what you get from a course with this much undulation. Course plays longer than the yardage on the card (played from the back tees). I liked the shot variety required at this course. Equal amounts of drivers, 3 woods, 2 irons and the occasional mid iron off the tee. Having a little course experience definitely helps here.
For the $35 odd dollars this course is an extreme value! I live on Hilton Head and I would be paying 3X that amount back home.
I saw a reasonable amount of maintenance staff around working on detail work (painting stairs, signs, mowing, raking, etc.). You can tell these folks care about their course.
Well done to the team and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend in the area.
