Course is in great shape
Spring Lake has only improved year after year since I moved back to the area.
It’s gone from an affordable practice option, to a great value with consistent greens and vastly improved fairways/tee boxes. Some of the tees can still use some work, but that’s just about everywhere with the lack of rain we’ve had
Best Course for the price
Only complaint I have which actually could be very serious. There were all of spots where there were wasp nest. Hole 1 on the fair way. Hole 2 on the tee off area. There was another hole I can’t remember it was close by trees. All on the ground. I will be sure to take pictures next time
Well Maintained Course
Spring Lake Country Club is a great course and an excellent value. The fairways are well-kept, the greens roll true, and the overall layout is both fun and challenging without being overwhelming. For the price, the quality of the course is really impressive, and it’s always an enjoyable round. Definitely one of my go-to spots when I want a solid golf experience at a fair rate.
Great course in NC
I played here 2 years ago with my wife. It was nice to see how much the course had improved!
Challenging and very nice course.
I believe hole 15 or 16 does not have a sign at all showing what par/distance or layout the hole is. Other than that awesome course
Calm and Relaxing
What a time I had. Friendly and polite staff. No fast pace; just me in my own world. Beautiful greens. I had an amazing time & im excited to return again!
Great fun at a reasonable price
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Don't be fooled about the open fairways. Bunkers come in play and the greens are tough and challenging. But I don't think I have ever met a nicer group running the place. Very hot day and the owner was on top of making sure there was plenty of water to be had.
Greens condition
The course itself was in good condition ,but the greens not so much. It's one thing to play on aerated greens ,but they were the slowest greens I have played on all year. They looked they had been mowed with no cleanup cut ,but it must have been the height of cut. I work on a golf course so I know what I am looking. The brand new carts were nice to have. Playing on a 96 degree day ,we never saw the cart girl for all 18 holes. The first cooler we came up was empty and we did't get water until the 16th hole.
Nice course
The course was in fair condition with the greens recently being air raided.
Had a great time!
Since I like to bounce around and travel to different courses, I only get to Spring Lake probably once or twice a year. The conditions, particularly the greens, were fantastic when I played on July 1.
I went out as a single for an early morning round and the very friendly regulars waiting to tee off were gracious enough to let me go ahead of them. I flew around the course in no time as my footprints were the first ones to mark up the morning dew.
If you've never played here before, the course has a very nice mix of holes, and some particularly devilish ones. The Par 3 second is a beast. The green on the Par 4 seventh is something else (I've yet to par that hole though I came close this time.) And the landing area for the Par 4 17th can be very tricky if you're not a long hitter. That being said I always enjoy my rounds here. The place has a very relaxed vibe and all the workers, from the pro shop to the greens keepers that I met, were fantastic to talk to.
Great value and nice course
Great value for your money. Course was in good shape. Staff was friendly and working on the courses first three holes.
