Excelent course
For only having nine holes, this is an excellent course. Includes a few par fives several par fours and really nice part3’s. A mystery course in beautiful Big Bear.
50/50
The course is great fun, however the absence of the beverage cart has been missed the last few times I have played. And unfortunately, this last time I was taking my sons to teach them golf and I had a party of drunk Heckler behind us not fun!
First timer since moving to BB
My son and I had the best time playing the Bear Mountain course. We were paired with 2 players that played at the same pace we play so it was perfect! We can’t wait to return and play a few more times before they close for the winter.
Great Spot in the mountains
I love this little nine hole course, especially the par 3 where the forward tees are on a little platform accessed via a little bridge. I was a single golfer and was paired with a nice family who were beginners. We were getting behind and the Marshall came along, and I suggested that the two fast and male golfers behind us join me and we would go ahead. The Marshall was super accommodating, and the family didn't mind that we went ahead of them. Probably took the pressure off of them since they did not have a lot of . The two male golfers ended up coming up ahead with me and we were able to finish the nine holes in a timely manner. The folks at the cart barn were very nice as well. I didn't take advantage of any inside offerings because it just looked like there was a snack bar. I only played nine holes due to time restraints. The two guys that joined me were playing 18. I wish this was an 18 hole golf course because the area could certainly use one. But it's beautiful up at 7000 feet and I definitely will return.
Fun course up in the mountains
I didn't expect much since this course is 7,000 ft up in the mountains of Big Bear. However, I was pleasantly surprised. A decent layout, good pace of play, and just surrounded by nature (and of course some some rental homes). Remember that elevation causes the golf ball to go about 10 to 15% further, so that was a bit tricky to negotiate. One bad thing was their allowing fivesomes to go out.. But all in all, when visiting Big Bear, this is something golfers will want to try at least once. A bit pricey but, hey, the course is pretty much for visitors.
The course conditions are the best I’ve ever seen.
This is a local course and I play quite a bit. I like it but it is way overpriced for what you get, 2x 9 to make 18 holes and it’s around $90? There are so much better courses off the mountain that are bigger and better for less. I tend to play those more. I will still play here, but it’s getting old.
So far this year, the course conditions have been better than I’ve ever seen them.
Decent course for quick practice
Cool setting for 9 holes. Fairways are firm and some bald spots. Very bumpy cart ride all around with many humps. Rough is shaggy and greens are small.
Good food menu in the clubhouse. Breakfast burritos are good.
Staff is unbearable
Golf course is fun. Staff is unbearable. Booked 18 over the phone, said we wanted to play 18 and they said we could get 18 before close. When we got to the back 9 the moron ranger wearing a huskers hardhat refused to let us on and offered no solution. We were ready to play the back before 5:30. Sunset is at 7:45. Went into the club house and even offered to pay more to play the back, and the cashier was also zero help. I would not play here again simply because of the staff. If you play here book online or at least make sure you have everything in writing.
Get real already!
This is a local course, and that’s really why I reluctantly play here.
$50 for 9 holes, really? There are many, many courses with a better layout, have 18 holes, in better shape and have real distances for at lot less.
I brought up the cost last year, and this year they went up!
I’d play this course a lot more if you were paying for what you get. Maybe $30 for 9 holes, $55 for 18 with a cart?
The greens are also crappy, and the tee boxes are even worse. The best I can say is the location is nice and the bunkers seem to have sand in them. Other than that, this course is not near worth for what you pay for!
