Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
About
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is the top municipal course in the state and it is also ranked as one of the top 20 in the nation. Overlooking the Cuyahoga River Valley, the course is known for its scenery almost as much as its challenging layout. It has a traditional design with a classic "out-and-in" routing, with the incoming holes playing uphill into the wind, making them seem much longer than the indicated yardage. Golfers might be taken aback by the punishing nature of the golf course. There are 58 bunkers strategically placed around the tough greens, which comprise the main challenges of the course. Get ready to be quickly introduced to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course's formidability with the lengthy second hole, a par 3 that will test even the longest hitters.

Course was in great shape!
Rough punitive. Greens fast, but slope of several greens made putts uphill oftentimes roll back past the point you putted from if it didn’t go in. A few pin placements were just over sand traps with fast greens sloping away. Nearly impossible to get close. Beautiful course scenery wise though. Gorgeous day to play in late October.
Best Muni in Ohio
Best municipal course in Ohio, probably one of the best munis in the country. Excellent course conditions. If playing as a single or twosome expect to be paired up with another twosome. Greens are very challenging...stay below the hole or you will pay.
Luv The Hollow
Sleepy Hollow is so much fun to play, and the course is in great shape; the greens are healed (from fall aeration) and just awesome. Nobody in our group went without a 3putt (although mine was only on the 1st hole); so even if you hit the ball great, you still have to concentrate & "commit" to your putting. The par5s (only 3 on course) are rather easy (#14 being very short dogleg right), but all the holes demand good iron-shots ...............and then let the game (of scoring) begin.
Fantastic
Perfect weather, greens healed from aerification and rolling superbly. Rough was lush and difficult, but staff had done a great job with leaf removal.
beautiful,scenic course
unfortunately cart path only slowed the p.o.p.about a half hour course a little wet but still played
sleepy hollow
Great course. Very wet. It is ok for this time of year.
The Hollow is Awesome
First, I love this course, and this particular Saturday afternoon was wonderful with nice pace-of-play (which can sometimes be an adverse issue). People just don't realize or appreciate what a great course this is, and to be part of Cleveland MetroParks, to be maintained to great conditions, to be affordable (especially when lucky enough to get the Hot Deals <$35) ............it will test your game. Don't be fooled by the 1st hole par5, because it is downhill .........you'll be making your way uphill sooner or later, and be sure to hit extra club for the carry shots (not much bounce in front or bunny-hops forward). The Starter gives a few helpful hints to the 1st-time player, usually warning to stay beneath pin-positions. The greens & their undulations are hard to perceive during first experience, and I'll bet you'll want to reschedule a visit to Sleepy Hollow again. Even if you hit it poorly, at least enjoy the layout & the views are outstanding. Have fun on this great Public track.
A golfing gem of northeast Ohio
The most challenging greens I have played. Course in great shape. As others have said, must put from below hole. A truly enjoyable, sometimes frustrating round. I'd play it again in a minute.
Challenging, scenic, very well kept
Always one of the most fun and challenging courses in the Cleveland. Greens are quick so you'd better be below the hole. Fairways were in great shape except 17 had a few bare spots but overall a wonderful track!
Top notch course
This course is everything and more that golfers post. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful, fairways plush, greens true. I have no complaints...oh ya I got a bargain price
Great time - Bart
Even though it started to rain on the second hole I was prepared with my rain suite and continued playing.
At the turn, weather broke and I had a great time.
Will certainly purchase "HOT T" times again from Golf Now.
Same old Sleepy
Course is in good shape but the same old problem with Sleepy slow play. It was brought to staff attention that the group in front of us was way behind as we waited again for them to get their hotdogs at the turn. They continued there slow pace the whole back nine. Never once saw a ranger. Sad when you have to wait every shot because of inconsiderate golfers.
Pace slow even on a weekday morning, but still a good round
This course has been heralded as a go-to for municipal courses everywhere, and for good reason. Conditions were good, a few summer-type burned out spots, but nothing out of the ordinary. Pace left something to be desired, heading over the four and a half hour mark. Otherwise, I will be back again eventually, especially after gaining some of the local knowledge needed to play better
US open visits NE Ohio
If you are a mid high handicap golfer, this course can ruin your day. Very hilly terrain, side hill, downhill, uphill lies on nearly every hole. Greens are difficult ( putt speed determined by grain more than elevations... uphill with grain is very quick, downhill against us painfully slow) Rough is thick, long, and often obscures balls less than 2 yards from fairway. Fairways are often soft and sloppy. Bring your "A" game or plenty of beer
Crazy golf
Great layout and staff tries hard. Layout forces slow play with 200+ yard,, par 3 2nd hole. Course sent off three twosomes in a road..They need to manage first tee better and pin placements were putt putt clown style
I understand about the twosomes, but wouldn't you want to play with faster twosomes ahead of you than a slower foursome?
