Grand Oaks Golf Club
About
Grand Oaks Golf Club enjoys a peaceful, tranquil setting among century-old oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with tree-lined fairways and small greens that will test your accuracy. It may have a traditional design but there is still some bite to this round. There are several strategically placed bunkers that lurk greenside to challenge you even further. Two meandering creeks weave along the golf course as well, coming into play on a few holes. The layout has a nice mix of holes from reachable par 5s to tough par 3s. Grand Oaks Golf Club is a fair test that is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. There are some birdie opportunities available if you play it smart and it's forgiving enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

Very Enjoyable
Staff was friendly never saw a Marshall or a cart girl though.
Nice practice green for putting and chipping.
Nice layout overall but greens are terrible.
Greens will not hold a shot and you will not put a divot in one.
Great course for beginners
Played the course and it was great. Not overly long but it’s still a challenge. The only thing that bothered me was that with it being the first time playing the course every hole didn’t have a maker letting you know the layout. Other than that I enjoyed myself.
Great! We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Grand Oaks Golf Club.
good not grand
Grand Oaks is a pleasant course. It is almost a links course with trees and water. It’s a very flat well cared for course which is challenging in spots. the bridges and water ways need work. there are a few holes that were confusing because of the lack of contour and everything is pretty jammed together. overall its a good course not a ‘grand’ course and I would only go with the hot deal price.

Nice Course
This was the first time I played the course. Nice layout with 6 par3 and 6 par 5 holes. Water is on most holes, but seldom came into play. Found close to 50 golf balls which was amazing. A flat course with elevated greens which made it challenging. The greens were lightning fast with very little break.
Wonderful! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your first time at Grand Oaks Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you at the course again soon for another 5-star experience!
Great course
Beautiful course to play, especially in the early morning. Will be back soon!
Excellent! Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Grand Oaks Golf Club.
Great day!! Golf gods were smiling.
Got morning tee time, conditions were perfect. Fairways were great, easy to hit your ball if u landed in the short grass. Love the layout of this course. Have played here several times. Pace of play little slow, but not bad for Sat. Staff always friendly. Marshall rounded frequently to help keep game moving. Have to muscle your tee in on few holes. Wish driving range was ready but looks close. . I’m a high handicapper and shot my best score ever here.....so ....my most favorite course ever right now... until the golf gods say otherwise. Will be back !!!

Good Track
Great friendly staff! Good layout with 5 par 5s. Bring a range finder, only thing is they don’t mark the course with yardages very well.

Good value
Good course with open fairways. Not perfect but nice layout with a lot of water. Few bunkers to worry about. Played on a Hot Deal and it was worth it.
Excellent! Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Grand Oaks Golf Club.

Nice design, fast greens but true. Fairways a little dry but normal for this time of year. Very helpful staff on what to be aware off (first time playing this course).

Most improved couse in the metroplex
I have played the Grand Oaks course a number of times since it reopened and I am continually impressed by its very good condition in all sorts of weather. The club house also has been greatly improved as well. {only the parking area needs to be upgraded ]The club personnel are friendly and helpful and the price is very "cost-effective"!

Great Value, Great Course
First time playing the course, and am a big fan. The parking lot, and a few buildings are under construction, but the club house is great. When I saw the course, I couldn't wait to get loaded up and play. Most excellent value......

Great Golf Course
Great shape for middle of summer. Great layout, not difficult but challenging. It will be even better when they finish their driving range. Good practice greens for chipping & putting. Not crowded at all. Golden little secret course.

Grand Oaks
This was my first time to play since the renovations. They have done some wonderful things for the course. They’re new clubhouse, although small, is fantastic especially compared to what it was. The course was in good shape, play was fast, the challenges are still there. It’s a smaller course so it doesn’t take all day to play. I recommend everyone give it a shot.
Awesome! Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time and that you've enjoyed our recent renovations. We hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Grand Oaks Golf Club.
above average course
decent course - parking lot is very poor ....
course itself is above average, not terribly difficult but some tight fairways.....
very relaxed pace....i would come again

Hot Weather--Cool Course
I have been playing Grand Oaks for years. I have seen the different name changes and management teams throughout the several bankruptcies it suffered as a country club. I have watched the course design evolve as well, and I am glad that it is finally in the hands of a good management team.
It is an old Don January Design, and though it shows it's age at times, it still shows the better sides of a classic Don January Design. There are very few of his courses left in the area. I think the Corinth Country Club is the nearest one that comes to mind, and it is still a private course.
Grand Oaks is now much more fun to play since the MAi Family took it over. I believe those were the same individuals who gave us the Thorntree Country Club, and King's Creek.
When they bought this one, it was still built "UNDER" the flood plane, so a good rain guaranteed the back nine would be unplayable. If we got a real toad choker of a rain storm,. the entire course would be unplayable for a couple of weeks. It's amazing that it stood the test of time. When the Mai Family got a hold of this bankrupt course on life support, they built up the fairways, and added a bunch of false fronts to the formerly tiny little greens. Next they slow;y began cl;earing out the excess trees, and the marshy areas left over from the years of neglect under the flood plane. When the city decided they were going to run sewer directly through the course, they shut her down during construction, and finished the rather massive overhaul.
The original January design is alive and well, but it has been improved upon in order to adapt the course to it's environs. I played on a very hot 103* Day, so the slightly baked fairways, had plenty of extra roll out, and at times I felt like Hercules. Sadly, the greens were also a little baked, so I saw plenty of bounce and rollout in that department as well. Even so, in this recent stretch of dry hot days, it is to be expected. At least I wasn't getting hammered for a ridiculous green fee, and watching several pars turn to bogey because of the concrete like landing pad for my wedge shots. That has happened to me at a few other courses recently---ones that are nowhere near as reasonable as Gran Oaks. Even good irrigation isn't enough ion weather like this.
The layout is fun, the staff is friendly, and today at least, the pace of play was excellent. Grand Oaks has been a grand tradition in my game. It's one of those courses that you remember because it's where you learned your game.
