Grand Oaks Golf Club

I wasn't expecting much from the course but I was pleasantly surprised. The course was in nice shape for the time of year. It had a lot of trees and was moderately difficult. The clubhouse is very out dated and the driveway was full of potholes and falling apart but the course itself was a lot of fun. I do recommend playing here.

Fairways are narrow and Greens are stiff and fast. You have to play shots and not to the flag. A couple of the greens are relatively small...play them to the front and release or it's gone. Part of what makes this a challenging course. Love it!

when we arrived to the course they said no one could hit on the range although range balls were suppose to be included in the deal which was the main reason we chose that deal. Not cool!

Fun, straight forward course. Greens in very good condition. A couple holes have water that comes into play just to mix things up. Staff is very friendly. The reason for the Course Conditions Rating is that it had rained the two days prior to playing and the course had some standing water on the fairways. Besides that the course was in good shape.

This is a classic Don January design that I have played since the beginning of its evolution, through the depths of its bankruptcy, and into its currently resurrected state. The owners have performed minor miracles in salvaging a course that was in the midst of a terrible nosedive. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendlier than at any point in time, and the greens roll true. There is still the occasional patch of hard-pan in the first cut rough, but overall, the fairways play better than any of the local munis, and almost as well as the higher dollar daily fee courses in the area. --Dollar for dollar, this place is really hard to beat. Be prepared to use every club in your bag.

The course is beautiful, just enough water, beautiful trees. The greens are rather flat, makes it a fun round. The course is maintained very well. No complaints at all!

We enjoyed our time! Especially when the staff is super friendly! Course is a little hard for the high handicapper bc water plays on most holes. Other than that the course was great! Will Make a return trip for another 18!

Course is in good shape and the staff is very friendly. If you catch a good deal on this ($15 for 18, cart, and range balls) it's well worth it.

This is an old course that I played once a couple years ago and again last weekend. Maybe there's been some financial difficulties but the condition of the course this time was not as good as last time. And not just because it's spring time and things haven't bloomed out in summer's splendor. There had, apparently, been some recent heavy rains. So much so that the range was closed for flooding. Okay, but how about just cleaning up the trash? There were several areas where litter had collected from a big washout. Let's concentrate on clean-up, shall we gentlemen? The water hazards are everywhere on this course and that's something you don't see on every course and it could be a defining feature. But water is maintenance heavy. It just goes with the territory. If they improve the course conditions I'd return. But they slow pace was also a problem. Seems like the tee times had been slammed. We were a twosome and we were not paired up with anyone. We saw other twosomes. They should have paired up the twos and reduced the number of tee times.

My twosome who golfed on march 3rd really enjoyed ourselves we really liked the course it was a little hard on the tee box and some other spots but when the rains come that will fix that! Course had some tough holes and a few good dog lefts the first 4 holes were tough with the very strong winds in our faces the whole time which made it even tougher. But over all the course was enjoyable for any golfer some holes are easy and quite a few tough to read the greens. Who ever does chose this course will enjoy it the course was in good shape over all and staff couldn't be any nicer!! Only if you chose this course be careful my GPS sent me to the other side of course being my first time there I had to call for directions and they couldn't be more nicer when I showed up a few minutes late, I will be coming back very soon!

This course was fun to play. Open fairways off the tee on the par 4 & 5. The ball would really roll on the fairway so was able to get some extra distance on shots. Great course Marshal.

Great Staff, fast good greens. Invisible water hazards can be eliminated with the iphone app for the course. Need to get the driving range up and going.

I played here twice in this past week. Clubhouse and Pro Shop staff were some of the friendliest I have encountered. Fun course that is not too difficult. Many fairways are lined with trees. A creek runs through the course creating some water hazards that force you to consider your club selection and the risk/reward. Houses line the outside of the course but are far away enough to not worry about doing any damage with errant shots. Course was in great condition considering the time of year. Can't wait to play again this spring.

the dormant greens rolled very smoothly. i played from the whites due to cold wet conditions, only scratchers should play from the tips, small greens will test your short game. grounds crew was busy taking out dead trees, hidden hazards come in to play on several holes. this course is beautiful in the fall and spring

I thought the speed and condition of the greens were some of the best I've played this winter. The ball rolled true. The fairways had lots of unrepaired divots, but hey, it's winter, so it's not like you can get the grass to grow right now.

This course is not what it looks like. You have to select your
clubs correctly or your score card will.
Slicers and hookers beware this course will make you suffer.
And stay out of the trees; play it safe with an iron shot than an off line wood. The Layout is very nice the scenery is enjoyable.
The front nine is a bit fast compared to the back nine where some of the greens were damp. Advice to course management some trees had limbs that hung a bit to low preventing approach shots toward flag. But nevertheless a change of venue. This course is still worth playing more than once.

The greens were soft and rolled nice. The lack of markers made it hard to get a true distance at several places. Most of the time all we had to go on was the card, whick depending on the box they are using that day may or may not be correct. Also felt like there were marshalls than players on the corse that day which made my group feel as if we were being watched.

I played this course many times when I started back playing golf this year. It's close to home and is maintained nicely. The golfnow deals are supposed to include range balls, but I have yet to see the range open any time this year. I played once over the summer and there was lightning and rain after I played only 4 holes. I was told I could get a raincheck to finish my round at first. Then I was told I play at my own risk during twilight hours. So that was money wasted and left a bad taste after being a regular there. I haven't been back since. It was the principle to me. Now I play either Prairie Lakes or Mansfield National instead for the same price at better courses.

It's worth the $15 when a whole round can be played, but don't expect any range balls or rainchecks.
