Chippewa Golf Club
About
Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown sits just a few minutes south of Akron. It's one of the area's most popular public courses. Opened in 1962, the golf course has a traditional layout that sprawls across rolling hills. The undulating landscape provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is key since mature trees frame most of the holes and the massive, contoured greens also present a challenge. If you can keep it in the fairway, there are some great birdie opportunities on the par 5s. Overall, Chippewa Golf Club is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy with the exception of the treacherous 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. This trio, nicknamed the "Bermuda Triangle," will test the putting skills of even the best golfers.

This is a top 5 course I've played it's in such good shape like a country club, amazing layout and some picturesque views. Even drains well in the rain
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!
Everything was amazing.... and by the qay don't let google reviews mangle your view of the "Bermuda Tiangle ".. 13--14--15.... they are welll THOUGHT of holes but not all the hype!! Play at your own risk!!..ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS... CANT WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN!! CARTS LIKE CADILLACS WITH GPS AND SURROUND SOUND .... OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
Beautiful Course
This course is a great challenge for all skill levels. Absolutley beautiful and will manicured. This is a must play course!
Great Course
The course was in great condition and is set up very nice! Lots of nice features! Very slow pace of play however!
Is this still a hidden gem?
I still feel like this place is a hidden gem despite them seemingly always having a full tee sheet. The greens are the star of this place. Very consistent and enough pace to not want to be above the hole. It might be my favorite course to play in NE Ohio. There is nothing fancy about it either. Modest clubhouse with a good size food selection. The staff is welcoming and the grounds crew are great at what they do. Teeing off before 8 I would have liked to play a little faster but we still finished in 4 hours. I haven't met him personally but by all accounts, the owner is a stand up guy and the events they host are top notch.
Big improvements made
It has been a few years since I played here. I must say the course has really upped its game. Everything was in great shape. Carts are like private course carts. Finn scooters were available as well but we chose not to take them. Did not need to go anything to the course. It was immaculate. My friend said if the course was closer to his house he would buy a membership. The bunkers could have used more sand but otherwise, like a private club.
Highly Recommend
amazing golf course with an amazing staff who are all friendly and there to make your experience the best possible. 11/10 recommendation to anyone looking to enjoy a nice day of golf on a relaxing yet competitive course
THE BEST TRACK AROUND!!!
This track is an absolute test of one’s entire game!! I’ve never put up a good number here just because it is so tough (that back 9 is a card killer especially the triangle, I ran off 16 with 3 bogeys and was tickled about it!!). The layout is spectacular and the course conditions were immaculate!! Kudos to the greens keeper and the staff! Totally a country club look and feel!! Greens were receptive, rolled true and were lightning fast!! Good luck if you’re above the hole!! We grabbed the motorbike “cart” and I highly recommend it! It made our round much more fun and different on so many levels!! Staff were amazing and the clubhouse selection was extensive. I bought a pair of puma golf shoes for a C note on the button and the next day I saw em at galaxy for 150! Love love loved it!!! I can’t recommend this track enough! WELL WORTH THE LOOT!!
Gem
This course is a little off the beaten path but you need to do yourself a favor and find it. The different levels has great views of other holes. The greens are huge so just hitting the green in regulation is not a safe two putt.
Perfect Conditions
Chippewa was a great get out of the house and still keep social distancing. Every player has there own cart and the pass of play was good. Course was in great condition and the greens were perfect. I like how they put foam around the flag stick to prevent people from handling the flag. Might want to go to this full time seemed it helped with the pace of play. Great day out course in great condition friendly staff also!!!!! A+ Shawn
Great value and excellent staff
I don't play a lot of public courses, but with how much I enjoy Chippewa, I don't see the need to play any others. The staff is friendly, they take good care of the course, the greens were in phenomenal shape for March, I really can't say a single bad thing.
Can't wait to go back.
Nice golf carts!
Nice golf carts with gps. Makes the round more enjoyable. Course was in excellent condition. Really like the challenges this course has to offer. Fast greens but true. Really like this course.
Great Course
This is my home course and I play league here, so I play it about 40 times a year. The greens are normally in very good shape (great shape for a public course) and the fairways are well manicured. The rough is generally cut pretty low, which makes it more playable for everyone. This course has two distinctly different nines. Make hay on the front where the greens are generally flat and there isn't much chance of getting in trouble. The back, however, gets much more difficult. The greens are still large, but they are also more narrow and much more sloped, making accuracy a must. There are also some holes where your balls can vanish. It has a nice putting/chipping green and an ok practice range. Overall, this is one of the best public courses in the area and definitely worth a visit.
