Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Nice course
Nice course with a good variety of holes. Staff were excellent as was the food in the clubhouse. Real hot day and they provided unlimited bottles of cool water which was a nice touch. The only negative was the pace of place, 3 hours for the back nine is not acceptable and didn’t seem to be any sign of the slow groups getting stirred along. Overall though a good course in great condition, albeit a bit pricey.
Pleasant Valley June ‘24
Course was in good shape. Occasional wait at par 3’s
Nice staff. No snack cart available on this weekday.
Will play again next time I’m in the area.
Great Course
Love the course & the layout...it'll be challenging for average golfers but offers some difficulty even for single digits.
The issue is value...$100 to play this course is ridiculous, but it's 2024 and that's what we pay in this DC market...
This course was well maintained
This course is a hidden gem. Pace of play was excellent. Greens were excellent. Got to check it out!

Course was in good condition, greens slightly fast and an occasional wait for group in front of us.
No complaints and will replay next time in the area.
a course that reuquires thinking
this is a classic strategic golf course that requires thinking your way through holes. this is what all golf should be like -- its an underrated course.
a testament to a good course is you remember the holes after you leave. I remember many of them.
some examples:
par 5 fifth - narrow fairway at driver landing area makes you consider hitting an iron. but if you hit the drive straight you enjoy a downhill, making reaching in 2 possible.
holes 14-17 are a great stretch
14 - short par 3 with little depth (bunkers in front and back) and very wide. should be easy... or an easy blowup
15 -- creek right at the driver landing area, and a tough uphill approach with not much room behind the hole.
16 - water + narrow fairway as you try to get more distance on your drive, the approach is a skinny green with significant depth and huge bunkers (and water) if you miss right
17 - double fairway -- -play to the right for a shorter hole but a forced carry on your approach. but the "safer" drive to the left leaves a tougher angle on the approach.
cost of play
the course is ok condition, but for the money that they are now charging, which is a lot mor than last year, you would think the tee boxes would be at least level. Charging as much as Westfields, and this is not Westfields.
Great Course
It was great playing here, I am a full member at another course and I am loyal but I must say this course was beautiful and played very well. Hole were a lil tough but very forgiving I WILL DEFINITELY play this course again!!🏌🏽♂️
An enjoyable and challenging experience
I’m so pleased that the cart paths were recently repaired. Greens were in very good shape. Reel boxes and fairways were nice. Would definitely return for another round.
Slow
Played 3 June. The course conditions were fine, but we waited on every shot. The two groups right in front of us were the problem. Called the pro shop and asked them to send someone, but never saw a marshal until the 18th hole.
Policy and Course Changes Needed
First thing I notice is that your charges for each round include cart fees, yet when someone walks and does not incur wear and tear on your carts, which many do, you don't reduce fees for the round to exclude the cart fee.
Bottom line is, if charges aren't incurred by the customer, they should not be charged. A walking customer is actually saving you money by 1) not taking carts onto/into areas where they may damage the course, and 2) walking incurs reduced maintenance to your carts, yet their patronage is not financially recognized. You should consider that if you want to continue charging customers for things they are not using, then give those customers free range balls as a means of compensation. I cannot keep playing here unless this changes.
Fairways and greens were in great condition. Sand traps and tee boxes were in terrible to average condition, with some being almost unrecognizable were it not for the tee markers. These are in need of an improved maintenance approach and will deter many from playing here.
Better than ever at Pleasant Valley
Pleasant Valley is now better than it’s ever been. I’ve been playing in a golf league at Pleasant Valley for many years and I must say that they’re hitting on all cylinders. The course itself has never been in better shape - from tee to green. However, what inspired me to write this review today is the added benefits, including:: updated clubhouse, a consistent beverage cart on course, outdoor speakers on the patio, and the willingness for the staff to say open for that last beverage at the end of the day. Very accommodating and worthy of the “five star” rating I’ve given them. Kevin T.
Much Improved Course Conditions
Tee boxes and green complexes are much improved over years past. I had stopped playing here due to those factors, but I'm happy to be back under better circumstances. Only drawback is that they charge same price whether you walk or ride, but that should not be the case. If I'm not using your equipment, then you should discount my round for whatever price is charged for a cart fee.
