Nice layout
I really liked the course layout. Holes vary from wide open to narrow and tree-lined. Relatively short course but very enjoyable.
Greens in pretty good shape for a dry August. Other aspects were OK, but not great.
Kinda disappointed in the $43 rate by booking via GolfNow. My playing partners got to play for less.
My favorite SWVA course.
I've played here 4 or 5 times in the past year or so and my brother in law tells me it's relatively new management, that this place used to suck. NOT ANYMORE! The course was in terrific condition and the staff are so incredibly nice and friendly it's almost odd. This is easily my favorite course in it's price range and I try to convince everyone in my party to go here when I'm in town. (I live in Charlotte, NC - visit Salem/Roanoke area once or twice a quarter to visit family and/or golf). Auburn Hills rocks!
Great course for the area
Great course, great value, new owner and GM, great things seem on the way
Hilly course - tricky greens.
A very pretty course with a nice layout. Had a hard time on front nine with the undulating greens (kept leaving approach in wrong spot or on wrong tier). Adjusted well on back nine and shot even par.(Back nine has 3 par 5's & 3 par 3's)
Greens good.rest of course poor.would recommend at bargain price only.
See above .Staff very friendly.Good layout. Lack of funds has lead to deteriorated condition
Good value for the cost.
Our family played this course and we all had a very good time. Considering our varied golfing abilities, the course fit in very well. The fairways could use more attention and the ruff was a little high requiring a lot of looking for our stray shots. Overall, for the "golf now" charge, we were very happy with our golf outing at this course.
challenging yet playable
Front nine is tight and requires placement shots, back nine is more open but has great elevation changes that require percise yardage from club choices. Greens are fast, have different levels and roll true. The course is beautiful and has great mountain views. Everyone should play this course.
Challenging, but fair
Front 9 plays tougher than back 9. Few tight holes and narrow fairways; yes there are some blind tee shots. Sidehill lies no matter where you hit it on some of the holes. Recommend playing with somebody that has played here before to get a better read on the layout. Bring enough club on 17!
Course is Very Hilly
The course is very hilly and some fairways are very tight. If you hit a shot that goes to the rough your will have a hard time finding your golf ball.
Great Course for your money
I play this course several times a year and the staff are excellent and the course is great. I would recommend it to anyone of all levels.
Poor routing
This course could have been wonderful. However the course was in only SO-SO condition. course had way to many blind tee shots for the passerby to be able to stop in and have any idea where to hit the ball because of this round took an overly long amount of time having to drive up and figure out the line and aim points.
A good, moderately challenging layout.
Very difficult to find ball just off fairway because of clover and white flowers.
tough but fair.
It was cart-path only this day due to previous rain. the mobility would have been helpful with the rolling terrain and course setup but was very enjoyable none the less. Pro shop gentleman was a bit overwhelmed at check-in. Course is for sale but the upkeep still seemed good with the exception of one green that had been patched. Overall good value course with some potential to really take off with right ownership. Will play it again.
Tough greens
Bring al your clubs short and long holes require use of every club in your bag. Some holes tight others wide open, challenging but fair.
Fun and challenging course but could use some maintenance.
This course has a duke's mixture of hole types from elevated tee's to wide open fairways to tight doglegs with tree-lined fairways. The par 5 15th hole is definitely one of the most difficult holes at this course. I enjoy playing here, but some some additional attention given to tee boxes and bunkers would go a long way in making this a better course. Some of the tee boxes are not very flat and some of the bunkers are really more dirt than they are sand. I would definitely recommend playing here though.
