Paid 18 played 9
Well, I had a good deal through GolfNow this morning, with 18 holes 1 player, it only costs $12.99 before tax, with coupons I have, I only paid $6.58 which was a deal I couldn’t pass.
I arrived course 15 minutes earlier, and was told there were two single players and a group of 2 players shared the same tee time with me. How that happened? Idk. Anyways, after I checked in, I realized there were 5 or 6 groups lined up already at the tee box for first hole. After I saw the hooks and slices the first group tee shots, I knew my entire afternoon would be wasted here.
So I looked around, found no one was playing at back 9, while the team played at Hole 9 just teed off, so I jumped to 10, rushed to start, and finished the 9-hole game in 45 minutes. Game went well especially when you can play under your own pace, so I ended up using the same ball to finish the game, and had the best score I played on the back 9 of this course.
I would definitely come back again to finish the front 9 if I can score another good deal.

Terrible Shape
This used to be the gem of muni courses in Toledo. The course has digressed to the horrible conditions of 15 years ago. The fairways are rubbish and the greens are like 70s shag carpet. Not to mention they allowed a six-some on the course. It’s like they don’t even care any more.
It makes me sad to write this as multiple generations of my family have enjoyed playing here. No more.

A unique, historic, and very interesting golf course
I play this course often and always have a good experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Although the course is located within the city of Toledo, it is contained within a park with wooded areas that attract an abundance of wildlife, making the course especially interesting in the evenings when animals, including many deer, roam the fairways. Although the course is relatively short, the layout of the holes makes it very challenging, and each hole offers a different challenge. Surprisingly for Toledo, the course is quite hilly.

Toledo Oldest Public Golf Course
I’ve been playing league games at another city course for two years, and only played a few times on Ottawa Park Course and could immediately tell the differences.
In my opinion Ottawa Park is the most challenging course among four city golf courses, it may relatively shorter compared to Detwiler Park, but adding the huge elevation change makes this course a tough one to play. Not only the player needs to hit the ball straight, but also needs to play smart.
Not all the time you aim in the middle of the fairway is a good choice, because the middle of the fairway could happen to be a slope slide either to the right or to the left. Hitting not long enough could be a big trouble especially when the green in on the top of the hill. Hitting too long you will find the fairway ends before the carry distance. Hitting the ball too high you will find the branches on both sides are against you, hitting the ball too shallow you will find the ball stuck in the middle of the uphill. I probably only need to use 4 clubs to play entire Detwiler Park, but will need to use all 14 clubs to find the optimized combination to get a good result out of Ottawa Park.
The course itself is maintained much better compared to the other three city courses, and makes me wondering if the city spent more funds on Ottawa Park. The only suggestion I would give to improve the course is to change out the cups on the green and trim the grass on the edge of the cups.
Bottom line is, I recommend this course to anyone who wants to spend a decent time without bankruptcy, and don’t worry about the result and enjoy the course itself. I definitely will go back to play again and may also recommend our league committee to switch to Ottawa Park next year.

Nicely designed course, greens could use some work
I love the course layout—not too long and it really makes you choose the right club. The conditions of the greens are always lacking tho. Hitting a great second shot to the green, only to have your put upended because half the green is just dirt takes away from the game

Thank you for taking the time to review us, and for the 3 stars. We're sorry to hear the course may not have been in the best shape on the day of your round, and we appreciate your feedback regarding the greens so we may work on any necessary improvements. Thank you for choosing to golf with us, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Great little track
Okay, obviously this place isn’t Inverness or Sylvania CC, but it’s a fun course. Especially for being in the middle of the city, it’s great value for the money. Only problem is that because it’s a short course, you could get stuck behind newbies who don’t understand pace of play or letting people play through. The traps aren’t in great shape, but if you just stay out of them you’ll be okay.
Ottawa Park Golf Course
I try to play this course once a year just to see if the conditions of the course have improved since this is the oldest course in Toledo built around 1922 when the back 9 was added on .... the course staff was very friendly how ever due to all the rain that we got Saturday night the traps were hard and chunky .... the greens were a bit slow but receptive to approach shots and a couple of greens had some burn out spots .... you need to keep your tee shots in the fairway because this course has a lot of trees

We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Ottawa Park Golf Course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
