Excellent Course
Fairways and greens excellent. Beautiful scenery- mountains all around.
We always enjoy playing this course when we are heading south.
Course in great shape
Seems like every time I play this course there's been an improvement. This was my first time playing there in about a year. The greens were in the best condition I've ever seen, the fairways very good, and a few areas of poor drainage had been remedied. They've also added TopTracer Range, but when I tried to use it, I could not connect so that was a bummer. My only complaint was that a few of the tee boxes were in rough condition and like hitting off a brick. But this is undoubtedly the best public course in the Roanoke region. I highly recommend it.

Best Public Course in Roanoke Vicinity
This golf course is my favorite in the Valley. I consider it my home course. It is always in great condition and the staff and accommodations are generally excellent. My only complaint is the slow pace of play on the course. This occurs more often than not. It would help if they would utilize a Marshall from time to time to encourage pace of play. Hitting 2 balls off the first tee and spending an excessive amount of time on the greens is something I see on a regular basis. Spending 4 and 1/2 plus hours to play here is ridiculous

We do take pace of play seriously, but agree we can always do better. We switched to a 9 minute tee time interval this year to improve pace and golf course flow. Our pace that day for the hole day was 4 hours and 6 minutes, but I apologize it took longer for you that day.

Best Condition Ever
Play Blue Hills once or twice a year. I was pleasantly surprised this time as the course was in the best condition I’ve seen here in 20 years. The fairways were great with plush greens and you could play the ball down. The rough was a little up which was a good touch for a public course.in the summer.
Amazing value - great fairways if a little long, great bent grass that only shows slight wear during these hot months. Easy to imagine this course playing fast + firm and being a true brute, but conditions are grade-A for scoring. Getting your name called over a loudspeaker for the tee time is great. Practice areas great. A gem

This course offers a great layout and conditions
I played Blue Hills for the first time while visiting the area on 7/12/2023. I was looking for a place which I could play for around $40 and I was impressed with the condition based on price. I wasn’t expecting much but walked away feeling like I should have payed more.
I was paired with 3 regulars and was thankful I did. Jim, Fred, and Greg were a joy to join with. They helped me to navigate the course, and offered valuable assistance when asked. I wouldn’t mind being paired with them again when I return to the area.
The layout of the course was my favorite. Being from the coast of South Carolina, the elevation changes were really nice.
The conditions of the course were way more than I expected for the price. The greens rolled perfectly, the fairways and tee boxes were cared for, the rough offered a level of difficulty like it should, and the areas around the course weren’t let go but kept nice too. The forgiveness of the course made it that much better too.
I highly recommend Blue Hills and would play again. Having your name called over the speakers for your group to tee off was a nice touch.
Look forward to returning the next time we are in the area.

It was raining when we started but turn out to be an excellent day. Course was in great shape! Also, it was great having GPS on the carts. I would absolutely recommend this course!
