Cypress Creek Golfers' Club
About
Cypress Creek Golfers' Club was carefully carved from the mature hardwood forests and centuries old peanut fields of Smithfield. The peacefully secluded setting is the ideal environment for a round of golf and the challenging design will have you using every club in your bag. The golf course will reward creative shot-making and thoughtful strategy but it is not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The rolling terrain provides plenty of challenging ups and downs throughout and there are many water holes, including the memorable ninth, a short par 4 with an island green. Cypress Creek Golfers' Club even has its own "amen corner" that starts with the par-4 15th, moves on to the waterlogged 16th, and finishes with another par 4, an uphill hole that is the toughest of the trio.

Course was not in good shape
Greens were very bad with fungus. Course lay out was fun but not worth the money with the course in such bad shape. Clubhouse also was empty. You have the choice of 5 different sleeve of Pro Vs or a box of pinnacles. Nothing else. No hats, shirts, shoes ,etc at all.
The Tree Line Boyz
I accidentally booked this course and have 0 regrets. We will be back to film an episode for our YouTube channel The Tree Line Boyz. The course lay out was amazing. This may actually be my favorite course I have played in Virginia now. Do not pass this opportunity up. It’s a little steep, but worth every penny. Only complaint is there was a 4 man that wouldn’t let us through when we were only a two man. That made the bolts rust a wee bit getting back out to hit after waiting so long. 10/10 on the course and employees!
Round with Father in Law and wife
Pace of play was brutally slow bc of group in front of us. On pace for over 5 hrs. At times there were 4 groups on one hole. On 13 we finally skipped ahead to 15. Marshal was driving around but it didn’t seem to make a difference.
As for course condition, I would say it has potential but it just wasn’t in great shape. Some of the greens had very large blemishes on them.
Greens in Need
I recently played Cypress Creek Golf Club, and I have to say, it’s got a really fun and enjoyable layout. The course design makes for an entertaining round, and the fairways were in fantastic shape—lush, well-maintained, and a pleasure to hit from.
However, that’s where the compliments stop. The bunkers and greens are in absolutely terrible condition. The bunkers are practically unplayable—hard-packed, inconsistent, and neglected. The greens are just as bad, if not worse. They’re bumpy, patchy, and not even worth putting on. It really takes the fun out of the round when you can’t trust the surface you’re playing on, especially considering the price they’re asking.
It’s frustrating because I genuinely enjoy playing this course and would love to come back. But until they fix the greens and do something about the bunkers, it’s just not worth the money. Cypress Creek has the potential to be a gem, but right now, the condition of the greens and bunkers is a dealbreaker. Get those sorted, and I’d be first in line to tee it up again.
Cart path only due to wet weather night before. Tees, fairways, bunkers all in very good shape. Several greens stressed out due to hot weather. Also greens quite slow. Overall course I would rate course conditions 4.5.
Greens were 3.0. We were a twosome, and played behind two foursomes the entire round.
Round took 4.5 hours, way too
Slow.
Top shelf
Always enjoy playing there. Course and staff excellent
Slow Back 9
I played the front 9 at +4. Caught a solo player on #8. He was behind a twosome, as I was playing with a friend. We make the turn to 10 and there's a new twosome on 10, with the solo behind them. Had to wait in this heat! Not sure why the clubhouse would send groups off on 10 completely disrupting the flow of the course..Happens a lot
Great Track, Will Play More
First time out to Cypress Creek and am no where near disappointed. It was time for me to get out of the VA Beach black hole of overpriced and overplayed courses. Found a great hot deal and didn't mind driving just over an hour to play this course for the first time. Played from the blues at around 6500 yards. Loved the new challenge of elevation changes and at times placement golf, but still overall a bombers course if your driver is working for you that day. The greens roled true minus 2 or 3 where you could tell the heat had gotten to em and they started to lose them. Plenty of space to miss on most holes, which made it fun to scramble for a while. Will definitely be playing this course again, just with different club selections now that I've seen the course.
Hidden Gem
I had wanted to play a round at a “ country “ golf course and discovered Cypress Creek while doing an online search. It’s approximately an hours drive from where I live and certain boy no issue. Upon arrival at the pro shop I was able to check in , pay and get the cart key. The staff member at the counter was kind and pleasant. I was excited to see that the course conditions were fabulous. The course layout was also challenging but enjoyable. I am looking forward to play this course again in the near future.
Excellent
Fairways Greens Bunkers Tee boxes all in great shape
Truly a Hidden Gem
I had decided to drive the hour to get to play Cypress Creek GC the other day. I had a 9:48am tee time as a single. Since this was first playing here, I spent a few minutes going over the course layout while waiting to tee off. The tee boxes were in good shape as were the fairways. I did notice that aeration was recently done to the course, and was pleasantly surprised to see the grounds crew removing the plugs as well as performing their routine maintenance keeping the course in great shape. The greens were of moderate speeds but the challenge ( I thought) were the numerous greenside bunkers and the strategic placement of some of the water hazards. Most are there for the scenic beauty and are not in play but there are a few water hazards that errant tee offs will collect. Some of the par 5’s are long ( 600 plus yds) but birdies are possible. The par 4’s are very challenging and birdies will only come with accuracy. Overall, this was a very fun and challenging golf course and well worth the price.
The cafe and bar also was very nice and the staff was very accommodating. I will definitely returning for another round of golf in the future.
Spring ‘25
Course was in great shape! All holes are different and lots of fun to play. I feel this is one of the top courses in the 757 and one of the best values. Great practice facilities and the food was inexpensive. Going back very soon.
