Cypress Creek Golfers' Club
About
Cypress Creek Golfers' Club was carefully carved from the mature hardwood forests and centuries old peanut fields of Smithfield. The peacefully secluded setting is the ideal environment for a round of golf and the challenging design will have you using every club in your bag. The golf course will reward creative shot-making and thoughtful strategy but it is not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The rolling terrain provides plenty of challenging ups and downs throughout and there are many water holes, including the memorable ninth, a short par 4 with an island green. Cypress Creek Golfers' Club even has its own "amen corner" that starts with the par-4 15th, moves on to the waterlogged 16th, and finishes with another par 4, an uphill hole that is the toughest of the trio.

Wonderful course by the water
Cypress Creek in Smithfield is a joy to play even as a modest female player. The layout is interesting with fairways alongside mature trees and waterways of Cypress Creek. The winter/spring have been difficult for most courses in southeast Virginia due to frequent rain so play time has been minimal. The grounds manager and crew work very hard trying to keep the course in as good a shape as possible despite weather conditions. I really look forward to my next round on the course!
Good but wet
I played after a rain from the earlier day. Course seemed to have a drainage problem. I wish I could have played when it was dry
Excellent course
Always enjoy playing Cypress Creek. It's one of the best public courses in southeasters VA. Great staff and amenities.
Great track
Played on a very windy day. Had a couple of out of town guests and since the course was not crowded we able to take our time but finished the round in under four hours.
Great hot deal.
When we played we had no waiting and had no one behind us. Nice layout. Had a great time.
Nice layout but ....
Nice course but the greens are pretty much gone. Has the look of a course that has trouble maintaining it.
GreensKeeper staff no consideration for Golfers!
Cypress Creek is one of my favorite courses in this area. Its challenging and well maintained. I've played most of the course in this area, some with very high dollar fees and other that are called municipal courses. This is the first time I have experience the grounds staff continue to cut grass in front of you and next to you while we were teeing off and playing the hole. How disrespectful can you be. Even the so-called city courses have better etiquette. I was very disappointed.
Great place
Great place to play.
Some holes are unique to say the least, #9 , so make sure you know where you are hitting it.
Greens were a bit rough. Otherwise the course was fun
Customer appreciation
Is it to much to look a customer in the eye and say good morning . The person who did this is the last one I would expect it from at the course
Must play course
Course is in great condition and is an challenging course. Greens are perfect even though I was nowhere near perfect on them.
Great time!
This was a very enjoyable course to play. The course was in great shape for the time of year and the bermuda was dormant but extremely playable. The pace of play was very good, in spite of the frost delay that occurred in the morning well before our round. We were matched up with a couple of local fellows that help us negotiate the layout. We found the layout to be challenging, but fair.
the course was rough
I have played this course over the last ten years and it was in the worse shape I have ever played. still had fun because I love to play. Just expected better for what quality of course is advertised. was not worth the price this time.
BEST COURSE IN THE SOUTHERN HAMPTON ROADS, VA AREA
The course is full of a variation of challenges, which made for a fulfilling and fun round. A few holes are surrounded by beautiful homes, but they never feel too close for comfort. Give the course a try, I am sure you'll be glad you did.
Way too early
Late March & early April is too early to play golf in Virginia! Dormant burmuda grass & spiked top dressed greens results in poor playing conditions. However, one month later would be pleasant. The course is player friendly. Relatively wide open for the first 13 holes until you reach the final 5 holes.
My "go to" course
Always a pleasure to play this course. Best playability when weather is bad. Has its own "Bear Trap" 15, 16, 17 will take any strokes back. 9 can be a front side wrecker. Plenty of challenging holes. Great staff. Used to host a lot of tournaments, but never too busy. Course is always well maintained. Never disappointed. Food in Smithfield is pretty good too.
Thanks for your Review. We just did our Fall Aerification a week and a half ago so they are coming back from that. With the rain forecast this week they should be 100% in a week.
