Course in horrible condition
This was one of my favorite courses for the past year. There has been a change in ownership / groundskeeper and the course is abysmal. Greens are dry and cracking, bare in several spots in each green. Bunkers are now just hard dirt and gravel, fairways have been scalped and grass is dying which makes for very hard conditions, not sure what has happened with the sprinkler system but everything is extremely dry and cracking. Worse course conditions I have ever seen.
Awesome staff
Got rained out of the back 9 and on my way back to the car a staff member reassured me to go get my rain check. With that, this is the best course in Staunton. If I don’t want to travel far there is not a better 18 holes in our area.
Great golf course!
Great layout, good mix of elevations. Enough bunkers to make you really think about club selection. Pace of play was smooth, especially on a Sunday when the parking lot appeared to be quite full. Massive storm came out of the blue right when we were about to tee of on 10, and the nice young man in the pro shop wrote us stain check for the back nine. Excited to get back there and finish the round on that beautiful track. Will definitely be a repeat visitor. If I lived a little closer I’d member up and use the nice pool as well. Laid back, high quality atmosphere.
Fast greens and okay fairways...
Course was in decent shape, the greens were lightning fast. Hitting the fairway isn't always rewarding, there are some spots that damaged or under repair and the fairway grass is not always lush.
Rough is too long
Grass in the rough is about 4-5 inches long. Balls are difficult to locate and it slow down the pace.
Looks can be deceiving
We went out 2 days before our tee time and looked at the 1st hole, 9th hole, & part of the 18th hole (what we could see) & was excited to play this course! Some holes were in very good condition while the rest of the course was in awful condition! We would intentionally hit the ball off the fairway because many of the fairways had no or awful grass! The greens were in good condition & the sand traps!
