Hard to believe it’s in the middle of the City. Cheap, but better maintained courses in the area.
Plenty of hills make this a great workout. Lot of opportunities to use all clubs in my bag. Saw only 3 other golfers on a Wednesday afternoon.
Fairways very rough. No sand traps and water on only 2 holes (one pond does double duty).
Greens are below average quality.
“Clubhouse” is shabby, mid-course restroom is a porta-potty. No food or beverage service.
If you are looking for a course to learn on, or to introduce your granddaughter to the game, this is it.
Gypsy Hill experience
Totally satisfied! The course was challenging but moderately difficult. The Pro Shop staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
Although inclement weather didn't allow me to finish the last two holes, I'll definitely be going back!
Up hill
it seems every hole went up hill. Tough course to walk but in good condition
Call Ahead
We had a tough time finding balls in the fair way very little differentiation between rough and fairway . Greens in rough condition very slow. Course very hilly. Hole two very odd need to leave cart and walk about 75 yrds to 2nd tee.
Working hard!
It was a cold windy fall day. Yet the course was a running like a well oiled machine. The staff was friendly and the city maintenance crew was working their hardest to keep the course in playable condition. Gypsy hill park is full of many old thriving trees. This time of year the leaves leave a breath taking view. They also become a nuisance to golfers. Covering fairways and greens, even the purest of shots with the best lies may never be found. The staff at Gypsy Hill worked non stop for the first 18 holes and the following nine with several industrial leaf blowers clearing the way to make an enjoyable cold windy fall day swinging the links. Very accommodating club house, and hard working maintenance made our experience feel as if this was a professional public course! Best of all, no course within 100 miles can beat the rate all year round! I will be back very soon!
Good Condition
The course was in good shape. Being the first time playing the course I was not sure where I was hitting the ball too because of the elevation changes. One of the holes on the back a dog leg to the right I could not tell where the fairway was and the leafs made it hard to find your ball even in the fairways. I would like to go back in the summer and play it again with out so many leafs and knowing the course a little better.
Lots of hills
Nice golf course with lots of hills as the golf course name implies.
Good Time
Great time, Good Challenge, ALOT of TREES! But overall grew up playing this course and it is a challenge. If you like a good links course then get ready to be challenged.
Golf is a good thing
Great day even dodging the rain . Fairways needed a good watering and they got it .
Greens are in great shape . All in all can't
Beat the price .
Narrow Fairways. Lots of trees. Challenging tee shots.
Challenging tee shots with lots of trees blocking fairway. Greens are undulating but not extremely fast. Very hilly and using a cart is necessary for most senior players. Good rates thru GolfNow.

gypsy hill
it was a beautiful day to play a great course...not too crowded even for a Saturday!
good course
Good course. Great staff. Can't beat the rates. Covered carts also for winter time
NIce Course ... VERY Hilly ... But Fun ...
Nice course, it is in pretty good shape for this time of year. Course is fun and not too difficult. The course is up and down all 18 holes (HILLS)... and I mean Hills ... It lives up to its name Gypsy HILL ... lol ... Fairways lil tight on some holes, but not over the top difficult ... Green are nice, lil slow, but in good shape ... all and all a very nice course and I will be play'n there again ... Highly recommend giving Gypsy Hill Golf Course a try ... You will not be disappointed ...
My home course, so some sentimentality to the play there.
Hilly course, as the name implies. Rather fun layout. Nothing fancy, but ok.
Well maintained course
The course is in better condition than it was when I played it about a year ago. Good course for any level player.
Hope you REALLY like hills!
The "Hills" in Gypsy Hills really lives up to it's name. Stopped by here on the way back to NYC from an Atlanta road trip for a round. On the plus side, it was only $18 - which is a good thing because anything over that really would be tough to swallow. The course is hilly. It's seems like it's built into a recreational park - I say seems because I am not from the area. Lot's of blind shots and no flat lies. It's not marked so well and 17 was really hard to tell which way to approach the hole as it looked like it had two fairways. It's good for a quick cheap round but that's about it. I will say the back 9 was better taken care of than the front. Happy to hit the course on a break from driving but wouldn't seek it out.
Very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
Course somewhat hilly for an old man, but otherwise fine.
Staff very friendly and considerate.
Good value for your buck.
Plays Longer Than the Scorecard Reads
Nice challenging course with a lot of holes on hills. Many approach shots are to greens well above the player. As indicated on the webpage (and emphasized by the staff) the green were recently aerated. I'll play it again when the greens are at their best.
Old Municipal Course in a great town
I cut my teeth on this public course and its condition now makes it a different course than when I began playing. It is very hilly and favors the left to right player. The greens are smallish, nice, but with a lot of grass they vary in pace... but they do roll well. Fairways are good, fair in their width and consistent. The rough is deep and makes the course a challenge now. Once, a purely local-knowledge track, now it is exactly what you see and you either play well or you score high.
Poor
Needs alot of up keep fiarway are light rough, rough is thick makes for along day looking for balls . Not a good place to play ,years ago was a good course .
