Beautiful Golf Day in Blue Ridge Mountains
Stoney Creek at Wintergreen is in the Rockfish Valley in Virginia. Being in the valley there are less elevation changes than the other resort course Devils Knob. But the views throughout the course are incredible. Course conditions were very good , greens had been aerated about 2 weeks prior so a little slow but consistent.
Service in the clubhouse and course attendants was excellent. With 2 breweries and cider and wineries close by this is the place to play if you like mountain golf.
Rough Round but Worth It!
Beautiful views on a very pleasant layout. Good condition.
Warning: Rough is treacherous… bring extra balls, you will lose quite a few if you tend to roll em off the fairway. The surroundings are worth the price of admission. Hit ‘em straight!
Beautiful Course At the foot of the mountain
Staff was accommodating to my request to tee off early due to threatening weather. As the course wasn’t busy, I completed the round in just over three hours. Greens were in great shape, but difficult to putt (at least for me) due to speed and undulations. Tees and fairways were in good shape but with a few bare spots. Fairways were mostly open, with long holes that made for a challenging round. I enjoyed the course and would play it again if given the opportunity.
Fairways were iffy. Greens spongy but rolled ok. As a single I expect to be waiting but the group of four I was behind on the 2nd nine likely never gave even a second's consideration to letting me play through as they gazed back at me angrily while searching for balls less than 50 yards from the tee...every hole... and on some of them every golfer in the group. The course and setting are beautiful, though.
Old Favorite
Played this course often for 20+ years. Great layout in a beautiful setting. Always well maintained. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Always nice
This course is always in great condition. It has a variety of tees so anyone can enjoy playing. Never too crowded with the three nine hole layouts. Range and practice areas, which are included with the round, are very nice. Great course in a great location. A must play if you are in the area.
First time playing.
This course was very nice. I have lived in the area for thirty years, but never played these courses. I can’t wait to play them again.
Great day!
We love playing this course! The course is in excellent condition. The grass in the fairways dies early(Zysioa?) but was lush and full. The starter was so nice and let us play Tuckahoe instead of one that was in the rotation. It is nice that they have 3 different 9 hole courses to offer so you never get bored on this course! Greens were spectacular!! Smooth and true with elevation variances throughout. I like how the fairways are bordered with mogul type mounds, very interesting. Great views on this beautiful fall day!
Friendly helpful staff, great course setting.
The staff all around were very helpful and accommodating from the pro shop to the range. Enjoyed the well-maintained course and scenery while shooting a good score on moderately fast greens.
Very enjoyable
Everything was great except the food options at the turn and the speed in which they were fixed! Golf wise it was wonderful!
Don't miss this one.
Great condition. Great pace. Beautiful scenery and super friendly staff. Don't miss it.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Tee to green the course was in great shape but I have never seen the fringes of greens in worse shape. I would rather they just burn the clumps of weeds and leave it dirt. At least it would be predictable. It's a small part of the course but makes a big, not so great impression. Greens were average thanks to a clear lack of ball-mark fixing by players.
