Hobbs Hole Golf Course

First time at Hobbs Hole and it was great. Pacw of play very good because the fairways are open and we never lost a golf ball. Green were in great shape. Slightly fast but rolled smooth. Will drive 55 miles again. Driving range is grass, a real plus.

I’ve played this course many times and it is always in great shape. Even after the incredible amounts of rain we have had, the course was extremely playable. It handles rain very well and drains very well. The greens head have just been aerated and top dressed, but it was not really a challenge. The ball rolled pretty well and the pace was easy to figure out. The greens conditions were consistent, from one to the next. Always a great experience from the pro shop, the restaurant, and the course. It was a hot , humid day & the beverage cart was on the course. There are water stations all over the course and the water was ICE COLD. The only negative was that the on-course restrooms were closed due to some kind of water issue. Otherwise, a great day.

Living in Stafford, it is quite a drive to Tapahannock. But, this course makes it worthwhile. Weather conditions were predicted to be bad...rain & wind off & on. We had an 11AM tee time and when we got to the course, the rain had stopped. We were advised that it had been pouring but the course handles the rain very well. We were able to tee off about 15 minutes early, and there was no one in front of us. As a two-some, we play pretty quickly...quicker than most. We expected the rain to start again around 2PM. So, we moved out. The course was great...no mud, no ponding, and the greens were super. Faster than one might expect for the wet conditions. But, the ball rolled true and we were able to make some putts. The only negative would be the sand traps. Some need work, others just needed some drainage and raking. But, overall, the course is in tremendous shape.

Troy, in the Pro Shop, was gracious, as always. and we were happy to find that they had recently gotten some new carts.

They do everything right at Hobb's Hole GC. I try to play there every 4-6 weeks and have never been disappointed. Especially, when so many local courses have had difficulty keeping their course in good conditions...allegedly...after last years unusually wet summer and fall. They are doing something right at Hobb's Hole. Maybe they should offer some consulting services to other courses.

Anyway, it is a great layout. Some big landing areas, some shot-making skills needed (at times) and large, receptive greens that make the round truly enjoyable.

This is my first review and I’m writing this review because I almost broke 80 playing this course for the first time. Hobbs Hole is a great track. For me there are only 3 downsides; 1) It’s so far from my house. 2) The range balls are crazy expensive, $5 for a super small 15 or so ball bucket. 3). The May Flies are EVERYWHERE!! Overall great course!

I loved the course. The course has not greened up yet. Fast greens. Good tee boxes. Tough par 4s and 5s. I think the rack rate of $59 is to much. The fairways need some TLC, some dark weeded grass is popping up. I want to play this course when it’s green.

The greens are always in great shape and the course is coming around.

Very friendly staff. The entire course is well maintained. It's the kind of course in which you feel mandated to pick up that one piece of trash you might see during a complete round. Greens where arrated three weeks back and are putting fine. The mayflys will worry you to death for about 10 days a year but if you call ahead they will honestly let you know their status. Enjoy.

I love playing this course. We join a friend every month or two. Great layout with many challenging hole through the course. The only drawback this visit we that they removed the water stations on the course.

When you take everything into consideration this is the best course in the area! Great greens, the staff is second to none, great pricing, and a delicious restaurant attached to the pro shop. If you looking for a fun course that’s always in above average shape go visit Hobbs.

Course was in good shape. The greens weren’t in good shape but playable. The ladies at the bar served us hot chocolate to drink so that helped on that cold day. Overall, for the $20 round it was a good time! Can’t wait for the warmer weather! Will be coming back!

Great course and the staff are always friendly. Layout is very open but still offers a good challenge. Great price!

Drove down from Stafford County for an enjoyable day on the links. Never a problem at this course...until today. We were told to start on Hole #10 because of some lingering frost on the front nine. No Problem. Got to the tee box and there were two foursomes and a twosome waiting. They were high school kids. No problem...we firgured they were not beginners. BUT, I have found that playing behind these HS golfers tends to be a bit slow...they overthink and over-rehearse their swing to an unbearable level. After 30 minutes, we completed the first hole. We called the pro shop and asked if we could start on hole #1, due to the slow play. We were told "no". So, we forged on. It took almost three hours to complete 9 holes. We went to hole #1, only to find the same people backing it up. We could not play through. We went to the pro shop to ask permission to replay the back nine...otherwise, we would have never completed 18 holes. No one was in the office. So, on our own, we went back and replayed the back nine...IN ONE HOUR & FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!! This was an unusual occurance and will not deter us from returning. It is a great course and the staff is friendly & helpful. Since I booked online, I did not have access to the information of the high schoolers "shamble" quasi tournament. If I had known, I might have booked an earlier tee time. Not a slam on the course.....you asked "how was my round"?

Friendly staff ,great greens, course was in good condition. Got paired with a very nice couple from Richmond who had booked the same tee time on Golf Now. Overall had a wonderful day on the right side of the grass!

The employees, staff and everyone associated with Hobbs Hole are truly professionals.

However the pace of play for this one particular day was absolutely brutal. The foursome in front of us never lost a golf ball, it was just waiting to be found no matter how long it took.

The course was in excellent condition, fairways plush, greens fast and due to the vast amount of recent downpours all of the bunkers were washed out and nothing but mud, which was to be expected.

The course is in great shape even though they just aerated the greens. When the greens heal it will be time to come back. Very nice staff and pro-shop has ladies and men's clothing.
