Hobbs Hole Golf Course

I love playing this course. We join a friend every month or two. Great layout with many challenging hole through the course. The only drawback this visit we that they removed the water stations on the course.

When you take everything into consideration this is the best course in the area! Great greens, the staff is second to none, great pricing, and a delicious restaurant attached to the pro shop. If you looking for a fun course that’s always in above average shape go visit Hobbs.

Course was in good shape. The greens weren’t in good shape but playable. The ladies at the bar served us hot chocolate to drink so that helped on that cold day. Overall, for the $20 round it was a good time! Can’t wait for the warmer weather! Will be coming back!

Great course and the staff are always friendly. Layout is very open but still offers a good challenge. Great price!

Drove down from Stafford County for an enjoyable day on the links. Never a problem at this course...until today. We were told to start on Hole #10 because of some lingering frost on the front nine. No Problem. Got to the tee box and there were two foursomes and a twosome waiting. They were high school kids. No problem...we firgured they were not beginners. BUT, I have found that playing behind these HS golfers tends to be a bit slow...they overthink and over-rehearse their swing to an unbearable level. After 30 minutes, we completed the first hole. We called the pro shop and asked if we could start on hole #1, due to the slow play. We were told "no". So, we forged on. It took almost three hours to complete 9 holes. We went to hole #1, only to find the same people backing it up. We could not play through. We went to the pro shop to ask permission to replay the back nine...otherwise, we would have never completed 18 holes. No one was in the office. So, on our own, we went back and replayed the back nine...IN ONE HOUR & FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!! This was an unusual occurance and will not deter us from returning. It is a great course and the staff is friendly & helpful. Since I booked online, I did not have access to the information of the high schoolers "shamble" quasi tournament. If I had known, I might have booked an earlier tee time. Not a slam on the course.....you asked "how was my round"?

Friendly staff ,great greens, course was in good condition. Got paired with a very nice couple from Richmond who had booked the same tee time on Golf Now. Overall had a wonderful day on the right side of the grass!

The employees, staff and everyone associated with Hobbs Hole are truly professionals.

However the pace of play for this one particular day was absolutely brutal. The foursome in front of us never lost a golf ball, it was just waiting to be found no matter how long it took.

The course was in excellent condition, fairways plush, greens fast and due to the vast amount of recent downpours all of the bunkers were washed out and nothing but mud, which was to be expected.

The course is in great shape even though they just aerated the greens. When the greens heal it will be time to come back. Very nice staff and pro-shop has ladies and men's clothing.

This is one of my favorite courses to play. The course was in excellent playing condition and except for one teeing area there were virtually no bare spots on the entire course. I like the variety of difficulty for some of the holes especially the par 5 #8. The rough was touch as it should be but not as brutal as some courses I have played recently. The green speed was above average and the staff extremely friendly. I have played there numerous times and fully intend on returning and hopefully soon.

First time there. Not hilly, gentle roll to the well kept fairways. Though a little on the slow side the greens are in excellent condition. Many tee choices for all player capabilities. Some traps have standing water in them front recent rains and may need additional sand.

Played Hobbs Hole for the first time on a perfect summer day. The twilight rates were unbelievably good. The course is very pretty and in great shape. I live outside the Richmond, VA area with many courses to choose from but Hobbs Hole is my new favorite!

Course is in good shape always love playing hobbs hole when I'm down that way.

Don’t believe on phone or on line pricing. Was told juniors were free but would pay for cart. Understandable. Played last week for that pricing after specifically asking on the phone. Went today to be told no junior rates and my 15 yo son would have to pay regular adult fee. I’m sure many 15 yo players can afford that. After telling me no junior rate, he said juniors were 14 and under. Wow. Which is it. Too expensive for a bobumpkin course in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully other area courses care about kids becoming involved. Disappointing.@$80.00 for a man and kid on a Thursday.

Staff is very friendly in pro shop and grill room. Nice grill room with good food and beverages. Greens were in good shape. Some of the tee boxes and sand traps needed work. Fairways are starting to thicken up. Had a bad winter and cold spring. Taking a while for Bermuda and Zoysia fairways to come in.

I went as a single on a Thursday late morning. On the putting green, two members invited me to play with them and I found friendliness of that sort typical of the members and staff.

I played from the blues about 6200 yards. Not a lot of trouble in the fairways but it was very windy with gusts in the '20's.

Fairways need work. Hadn't filled in, lots of sparceness. Rolled the ball a lot.. Greens rolled true but bumpy. They were large enough to make a difference in club selection.

Didn't see a lot of maintenance going on and the course needs some after the rough winter we had.

The drive out is beautiful. Pastoral with lots of farmland and a tree-lined parkway. Tappahannock, is near the end of the Rappahannock River before it empties into the Chesapeake Bay. A sleepy village at this time of year but you can tell its busy in summer ... lots of shops. (or shoppes).

Overall sense of the course... cheap to play, fun-ish layout, in decline.

One of my favorite courses to play, always in good shape for the most part, can be a forgiven and unforgiving course at times.

Been playing this course for 20 years. The pro is the best and the rest of the staff is great! Very family friendly course.
