Red Wing Lake Golf Course

They have lost half of the greens. Two fairways had swamp areas. Very disappointing. I will not play that course again.

Course was in poor condition, the greens were recently aerated and it was like playing in a sand trap on the greens. I’m okay doing that if I don’t pay full price but the staff did not agree. Besides the greens the course as a whole just was not that good of quality. I wouldn’t pay more than $1 per hole for a course like that.

I played this course while on vacation with my wife. We enjoyed this course and will play this course again when we come back for another vacation at Virginia Beach.

As far as the actual round of golf, it was ok. The course was in acceptable shape as far as Tee boxes and fairways. The majority of the greens were horrible. Actual weeds growing through the greens. Some of the greens has an excessive amount of sand scattered, even right up to the cup. Several puts made and the ball stops immediately in the sand. Ridiculous!!!

The guy in the clubhouse should look for some type of work from home gig. He is rude and doesn't seem to have basic knowledge of a credit card transaction. Even the old woman acting as the starter said he was having a hard time processing people. However, she was struggling also as she could not understand why I had 2 times. I tried to explain that I paid for both, that seemed difficult for her to grasp. That took about ten minutes then she had to verify it. Anyway, we will give it another chance in a year or so.

Great layout outstanding value greens where aerated and thus below average. But it was fun and a great deal.

Good course but greens, especially on the back nine, need work

I try to play here every year while on vacation. A few of the greens need some TLC, but otherwise we were very happy with the conditions. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The course has enough challenges to keep things interesting, but not overly difficult.

Drive down from Canada to play this course while on vacation in Virginia Beach. The course was nice and staff were friendly. Pace of play is as quite slow 4.5 hours to play and many of the greens had significant crab grass on them. Otherwise the course was nice and scenic.

This is a nice course with plenty of challenges. The layout is very good and the fairway were in reasonable condition for the time of year. However, the greens let this course down in that they were weed riddled and benign. There were also some bare patches. Even so, I enjoyed playing a round here.

Red Wing is a great layout. The greens are accessible following a good drive and/or second shot. The fairways have grown in nicely leaving you a nice surface to play from. Here’s the but; the greens are pretty beat up. This course gets a lot play and many people aren’t fixing their ball marks. The harsh summer weather has taken its toll also. That being said I will continue to play here regularly because it is friendly and fun to play.

I've played this course many times in the past but this was the first time this year! I was really looking forward to it but once I started playing and saw/experienced how bad the conditions are I was extremely disappointed! It's not worth half of what I paid!! A number of fairways were not cut, greens were very slow and a number of them were bare and had crabgrass on them! I was never in the bunkers so not sure their conditions. Tee boxes were hit & miss.... maybe they'll improve next year!!!! could get the pic of the greens to upload!!!
