Honey Bee Golf Club

About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

Will Return Again!
First time playing at Honey Bee. I've always heard it's a "short course" (par 70) BUT it is not easy, a lot of water features and the sand bunkers are like giant craters. Some holes I had zero idea where the pins were (behind 40 ft tall trees of course).
It was definitely challenging to me. We played after a rain storm and some of the bunkers were turned into water fixtures. One for the holes held a lot of water so it doubled as a water fixture. So definitely a hard day. At least I have an idea what to expect next time.
Poor pace of play
First time playing this course from 2 years ago. Very unorganized from the get go with no starter. Tee time was 1050 and didn’t tee off until 1108. Foursome in front of us were extremely slow and playing from blue tees, but probably should have played from the senior tees. Spoke to the clubhouse and mentioned slow pace from them but did nothing. A lot rain earlier in the week which made for standing water at times in the fairways and bunkers which I understand, but maintain the bunkers that aren’t affected.
Great Time.
Really like the course. Layout for the course is great nice and wide’ish. The best part you can stretch your long game on course and the green were running fast for at lest for me.
Sand traps were cement, but course was in good shape otherwise
Recent rain has compacted the sand traps, rakes were not needed or even placed on the course. Otherwise course was in great condition. Good mix of challenging and more straight forward holes. Would recommend.
Flood Zone
When I’m played it was 11:20 on 16 August 25… course layout is pretty cool but the first 6 holes were basically underwater, it had not rained much so I don’t know where it was from… also almost every bunker was a pond. Geese were even swimming in them! Other than all the water and mud the layout was pretty nice. Much better courses for lower or equal rates in the area.
Great Layout. Range needs work
Great place to go if you’re looking to get out early. Love the layout. The bunkers are terrible. Those that are not a constant water hazard have no real sand. The ball machine does not give out the proper amount of balls, all of which need to be replaced. Pro shop was not attentive to under dispensing balls when reported
Nice but pace is too slow
Too slow on pace of play, need Marshall’s to regulate . Nice greens.
Slow play
Course in good shape. Greens were fair. Bunkers were filled with water. Would be really nice to have a Marshall to help with the slow play.
Always a pleasure
Beautiful day, my wife and I got paired up with a great twosome….perfect weather, perfect day. Always love Honeybee
Good deal
Course was in decent shape. Only real issues the course has is that the bunkers are almost completely full of water. Greens were in good shape.
Honey Bee
Wonderful course with a great layout. Bunkers drainage needs some updating
