Eagles Pride Golf Course - Blue/Green

About
Eagles Pride Golf Course boasts a reputation as one of the best courses in western Washington. Located in the shadow of Mount Rainier, the course is less than 10 miles from both Lacey and Hawks Prairie as well as just a short drive from JBLM and DuPont. The 27-hole layout consists of three nines: Blue, Green, and Red; that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Blue/Green Course begins with one of the original nines when the course first opened as Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940. The Green nine was added in 1979. The classic design of the front nine is slightly less challenging than the back, where you'll find plenty of trees and strategically placed bunkers. Water also comes into play on a few holes.
Previously known as Blue/Green at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Classic NW Course, Care-less Golfers
So much potential here... 27 holes, good practice area, affordable rates. Sad to see it go downhill over the last decade. Presume EPGC has limited resources for course maintenance, but a bigger issue is golfers who don't fill divots and repair ball marks on greens. Inexcusable.
Long and challenging
Temp started about 88 and finished mid 90’s. the red to blue course in 4 and a half hours with a foursome. The course is long and challenging. Very fun day, the only negative would be a hot dog at the turn cost $12 just the dog.
Challenging Course ina Beautiful Setting
Course in great shape, not crowded on Thursday. Weather was perfect. Enjoyable day. The hot dog stand at the turn was a real treat!
Maybe I came on a bad day…
It was my wife and I first year wedding anniversary, And to celebrate, we wanted to play a little bit of golf. I booked our tee time online through the GolfNow app and that was a pretty smooth process.
But the smoothness ends there…
We showed up and got checked in, and went to hole one of the red course. We were teeing off when the starter stopped us and said we had to switch courses cause a tree was on fire.
I get there’s not much they can do about that so I don’t hold that against us them.
So we switched over to the other course, and the pace of play was very slow. I realize this was probably because quite a few groups had to switch over because of the fire.
But we were on hole three when the marshal stopped us and asked for our receipt. He checked it and first acted like we were trynna cheat the system because the receipt showed the pro shop didn’t charge us anything. I tried to explain that it’s because we payed through the GolfNow app. He then said well it looks like you only paid for one person.
I’m not sure how he got that. The receipt clearly showed two tee times and two people for a cart.
As I was offering to show my confirmation on my app, he cut me off and said we had to stop playing anyways because my wife didn’t have her own set of clubs. And we had to go and rent some at the pro shop.
My wife is just starting to get interested in golf and she doesn’t have her own set yet. And I do know that some places require everyone to have their own, but I have been to several places that will allow people to share. Nothing stated that she needed to have her own when I booked it, when I checked in at the pro shop, and we were even sharing when the starting marshal watched us tee off on hole #1, and he didn’t even say anything.
So it was just frustrating that we had already had to switch courses, and then stop in the middle of play to go rent clubs.
We got through the first 9 and then went to start at hole10 when the marshal stopped us again and said we had to go back to hole 1 of the red course because it was too backed up.
So after all this it turned out to be a long day. We left frustrated exhausted.
Great time!
Went through GolfNow and only paid 15 bucks including power cart for 18 holes! Course was in great condition, the fella at the clubhouse was very pleasant and helpful.
Terrible experience
I booked a 2:51p tee time on Sat and made sure to call the club house to ensure I would be able to get a cart. I was told that as long as I was issued the cart and tee'd off before 3p I would be fine. We tee'd off on time and pace of play on the front 9 was good. All changed on the back 9 where we were waiting every hole, every shot for the group ahead of us. While our group was approaching the 18th green (7:20p), staff came out and told us we needed to bring our carts in. He made it very clear that I was to bring my cart in immediately. I would think as a courtesy he would let me finish the 18th hole... Maybe one chip and a few putts and I'd be done and my group as well. But he waited there and didn't say anything so I told him I'd just pick up my ball and forget finishing my round.
Once I brought the cart back, he told me that I should have known that carts were to be back in by 7p and I could walk back out if I wanted to finish my round. He then told me that the guy cleaning the carts was supposed to be off by 7:30p. So the course expects a sub 4hr round on weekends? Esp when they do not have Marshall's out keeping the pace moving?
I love playing at this course and constantly tell people how underrated the course is and how great the value is for the price. After this experience, I'll probably stay away and just play elsewhere where we are treated with respect (the staff member continued on about how we were wrong and should know and other things were said, but I won't go into that here. Just know I wasn't happy at all and very displeased with the service.)
Other than that... Was still a great time playing with my friends.
Great Value
We played red/blue and the course was in great condition. Challenging but not difficult. There are a lot of trees but can manage to rebound easily if the fairway is missed.
Only bad part of the review is due to other golfers not taking care of their divots and ball marks.
The course was in great shape
Could not pass up the deal. 15 bucks for 18 holes and a power cart. Probably cost me more to drive to the course than playing it. Overall had a great time, went by myself and met 3 other very nice playing partners.
