Tahoma Valley Golf & Country Club
About
Located just 45 minutes southwest of Tacoma, Tahoma Valley Golf Course has garnered a reputation for being the driest course in the Puget Sound. The course boasts well manicured greens that putt fast and true. The greens showcase the best of the Northwest's undulating, bump-and-run golf. Its location provides every hole with a stunning view of Mount Rainier. Just shy of 6,000 yards from the back tees, it's not an especially long layout but it is narrow enough to present a challenge. The wide fairways are forgiving, making it player friendly enough for beginners, and there are enough challenges to please high handicappers as well. With an abundance of mature trees throughout, Tahoma Valley Golf Course demands accuracy. The par 3s are particularly memorable for both their views and level of difficulty.

The Course was in good shape. Friendly staff. Fairly reasonable prices.
Played well
The second cut off the fairways was cut high, I would imagine this because of the previous amount of rain. Had to use and extra club, pace was great, no cart person :(
Tee boxes
Tee bixes were atrocious. Worst i have seen in years. Rough was about 4 inches long, lost 2 balls just off the fairways. Won't be back for quite a while
Could be much better
Course was in ok shape. The fairways were well kept, but the tee boxes were very muddy and bare one large spots. Greens were soaked from watering (standing water on many greens. Layout is very basic, very straight, I only saw two sand traps on the whole course. There are 3-4 holes where water is in play, and some interesting patches of thick rough in the middle of some fairways. There is not driving range on site. Overall the course was ok, but for the price there is much better in the area.
Very disappointed
Our tee time was 12:30. No one told us that the back 9 holes would be sanded when we checked in. When we finished the front nine holes they told us to replay the front nine because the back nine were sanded..And the front nine ‘s condition were poor and very crowed, we didn’t play at the end.
With cart
I booked the round with the understanding that we would have a cart. We took our pull carts just in case. Last time the were out of carts and we were delayed by half an hour.
I tell the pro shop guy that the round comes with a cart. He tells me that the offer comes with a pull cart.
Of all the rounds booked on GolfNow have I ever heard of an cart meaning a pull cart. When GolfNow rounds are booked that has a cart included I have Always gotten a power cart. This was very disappointing and was not a good value.
The usual
Solid little course. Not great. Not bad. Recent price increases reduces value of play. 5 hour round yesterday due to being crowded. Usually play in 3- 3 1/2 hours. Greens are good. Course is wet/soft but very playable.
No wheels.
Tee time included golf carts. The course was out of golf carts and delayed our 2:32 start for over half hour. It was Super Bowl Sunday and we wanted to get back for the game.
I like the tee time walking so there’s no hold ups.
Rip. Off.
44 dollars for this course? I thought it would be decent given the reviews, but apparently the people reviewing this course haven’t played a GOOD course before. Do NOT waste your time or money if you are a decent golfer.
Horrible for the Price
Saw that this course had pretty good reviews so thought I would give it a shot. Terrible idea. $44!?!? Yeah, it included a cart, but I can play pretty much anywhere in the Portland area for that price on MUCH nicer courses. The only thing “country club” like about this place is the tiny greens. Every tee box was just patches of grass and most of them weren’t even level. Fairways were garbage. Can tell this place is hick central because no one repairs ball marks or probably even knows what a divot tool is. Looks like they are making some changes, but they should definitely not be charging this amount under the current conditions. Oh and the layout is terrible as well. Maybe 1 or 2 doglegs, and they have dirt traps instead of sand. Highly DO NOT recommend if you are a decent golfer.
