Tahoma Valley Golf & Country Club
About
Located just 45 minutes southwest of Tacoma, Tahoma Valley Golf Course has garnered a reputation for being the driest course in the Puget Sound. The course boasts well manicured greens that putt fast and true. The greens showcase the best of the Northwest's undulating, bump-and-run golf. Its location provides every hole with a stunning view of Mount Rainier. Just shy of 6,000 yards from the back tees, it's not an especially long layout but it is narrow enough to present a challenge. The wide fairways are forgiving, making it player friendly enough for beginners, and there are enough challenges to please high handicappers as well. With an abundance of mature trees throughout, Tahoma Valley Golf Course demands accuracy. The par 3s are particularly memorable for both their views and level of difficulty.

Fun course
Plenty of challenges. Greens are in great shape and course is fairly wide for high handicappers to enjoy as well as low. Fun staff and great instructor pro. Men’s club is really enjoyable group too.
Well maintained course
Been to this course a few time this past summer. Read from previous reviews tee boxes weren't that great but we found them updated and in great shape. The whole course was in very good shape. Afternoon tee time which seems to work out as course looks to be pretty crowded earlier in the day.
Golf in Yelm
I called the course prior to the day of play to inquire about possible plugging of greens. I was told the front 9 would be plugged on Thursday (day of my play), back 9 on Friday. However, we could play in front of the plugging on the front 9. When we arrived, we were told that the front 9 was closed and our play would be twice around back 9. Oh well, still enjoyed it, however the fact that the front 9 would be closed was not communicated on your website. Should have been! Likely would not have booked the tee time.
Why are you asking for a review now, 3 months later. The course is good! That's the review. Now why it is impossible to talk with a real person or even get an answer to a question through your automated response system. This is unacceptable. You are supposed to be a customer service organization. I question that!!!
Tahoma Valley 8/16
This course is nice to play. The staff is friendly. It is easy to walk. Definitely a good course to play.
Tahoma Valley 8/9/19
First time playing this course. Friendly staff. Nice course to walk. Look forward to playing this course again.
Walkable course
Fun course, a little rough around the edges but green were in good shape and fast. The layout is a little confusing. We had a hard time finding the 9th hole but a nice guy helped us out.
First time on course
This was my first time playing a round in many years. I spontaneously picked it back up after about 7 or 8 years away. Course was well maintained and staff was friendly. At first I felt very rushed but as the game went on I was able to slow down. Only did front half so I can’t rate the entire course. Already have a tee time scheduled for next weekend for the whole 18.
Great Deal
The course looks great. The pace was excellent as well. Great for practice.
Tee boxes are much better
One of the big complaints has been about the teeboxes being uneven. They are now top notch! I was amazed at the improvement! Pace of play was great! I played 18 holes in 3 hours. The beer afterwards was great too! Fun course with friendly staff!
Great greens and great pace of play
Course has improvements to many of the tees, which were badly needed. The greens are in great shape, rolling true and smooth. Wasn;'t too busy so got 18 in under 3.5 hours Great value and a fun, challenging course.
Slow play and terrible tee boxes
I knew playing in a Saturday morning was going to be slow, but this was amongst the worst I’ve experienced. Men’s club tees off before us and we’re extremely slow, no ranger on course to keep up pace of play. Cleared a little bit more on the back nine.
Tee boxes were a mix of newly sodded, with really long grass, and original tees with no flat spot to speak of!
Good for the money but I won’t be playing again anytime soon, that’s for sure.
Solid public course
Good course overall. Not too challenging, but long. Lots of chances to use the driver. The biggest negative is that they need a starter, the play was jammed up especially over the first few holes.
Great value
Super staff and a good walking course. If you shoot straight, you will have a great round. Not crowded and not too many traps or hazards.
Always a great rate.
Tahoma
Good course for beginners. Pace of play was very slow due to a lot of partying and drunk players ahead of us.
The Reno of the Tee boxes make trying to tee up a ball so hard...
