Tahoma Valley Golf & Country Club
About
Located just 45 minutes southwest of Tacoma, Tahoma Valley Golf Course has garnered a reputation for being the driest course in the Puget Sound. The course boasts well manicured greens that putt fast and true. The greens showcase the best of the Northwest's undulating, bump-and-run golf. Its location provides every hole with a stunning view of Mount Rainier. Just shy of 6,000 yards from the back tees, it's not an especially long layout but it is narrow enough to present a challenge. The wide fairways are forgiving, making it player friendly enough for beginners, and there are enough challenges to please high handicappers as well. With an abundance of mature trees throughout, Tahoma Valley Golf Course demands accuracy. The par 3s are particularly memorable for both their views and level of difficulty.

A fun day
This was my first time playing this course. I had read previous reviews that compared it to a pasture. I disagree. I found it to be a good course at a great value. I thought the course was challenging. The greens aren’t very large. I played the blue tees for some added difficulty. Pace of play was good. The course does lack a driving range. That was the only thing that I found negative, but I’ve played other courses in Seattle with no driving range.
Excellent pace of Play
My Pastor friend and I played this Course.
It was a great time out.
It’s a nice Course, the gentleman at the Pro Shop was very nice and friendly to us.
In addition, the pace of Play was excellent.
We asked, but there was no Driving range where we had wanted to warm up before our round of Golf.
Altogether, it was great!
Thank you very much.
Nice course.
This course is a 60 minute drive for me, so this was my first time playing. Will definitely play again if I can get a GolfNow price break. Nice layout, well maintained, and the greens were excellent. Negatives: the traps were pretty hard and several of the greens were not visible until you got close (I don't like hidden greens).
Greens rough on some holes and no where near what practice green is so be cautious when putting. Have to look at condition to evaluate stroke. Course plays harder than think lots of blind shots and trees to manipulate makes course tougher than you think.
Nice little course
First time playing this course. Course was in good shape, except the fairways were a bit long so you don't get much role. Greens a little bumpy, but rolled fairly well. Would play here again.
Great day for golf , the course was not very crowded. The tee boxes are not very level but otherwise the course was in great shape
December golf
The worst part of this course no matter the season is the tee boxes, they have more undulation than the course. Good luck finding a level spot to tee from.
Greens were fairly consistant
For the weather conditions, 34 deg F and slight overcast, it was a good round. Pace was fast, 3hr 45min 18 holes walking. Fairways were soggy as to be expected for this time of year. All in all it was a good day for golf.
Another great day
I've been playing this course almost weekly this summer. The course remains in very good condition. The fairways are green, the greens roll mostly true. A couple greens are patchy. This course has lots to offer.
I'm lucky to have a nice course so close
Many of would like to meet with friends on a regular basis and have a fun, informal round of golf. While I am not an avid golfer, I love the fun, try to improve and love the overall experience. Because this nice course is so close, my outing is even more fun.
Our group always has fun at a few of the holes, trying to make a good shot over the hazards, and enjoying a moderate rolling terrain. I walk it easily at 64 yo and actually get a bit of exercise without being a drag on the group. Lately we have stopped in and had lunch/dinner and a beer and made the fun last a little longer.
Friendly course
Decent length and forgiving, fun for all player skill sets. Small and fast greens with minimal course hazards.
The opening holes (#1&2 both par 5's) are unique and help to spread the groups of players.
Undulated tee boxs
Tee boxes are the worst I have ever seen. There is more undulations then the fairways. Other short comings are no place to loosen up, no driving range, no chipping.
Nk 1st course I ever played and I was hooked. Course plays nicely. The greens are tough though. Nothing flat about them. Hadn't been here in ab 10 years, I'll be back though!
