Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course

This was my first time to play here this winter season, so game wasn't sharp. The course layout is fair if you are playing consistently good gold. Since I wasn't, I found a lot of very difficult lies in the shallow water, deep rough and short-side positions around greens. Only lost one ball, but i struggled all day. Hope to do better after several practice sessions.

We showed up and thought the golf course was beautiful. We went to start and were told other golfers canceled so we were forced to golf with a 4th player. We switched clubs and rearranged golf carts. We made the best of it. Until the 9th hole, we were told to hurry up because they were squeezing in a 4 some. We hurried and were watched, which led to terrible drives. The back 9 we were hit into 5 of the 9 holes. If they can work on their staff and scheduling, I would have given this a 5 star.

Beautiful 27 hole Florida course. One of the few courses in Florida with so many elevation changes. Beautifully designed and maintained course with great staff and amenities. Full practice facility on site. I love playing this course and try to go there at least once a month.

Have played here many times. Three nines are offered, and the course is generally well kept. We played on a Monday after Thanksgiving and the pace was great - 3 hours 50 mins. Sun was out, but so was the fertilizer. Reeked of it on every hole. Plus the greens were very slow. Very slow and fuzzy. Really took away from our round. Overall I have always liked Heron Creek but the last few times the greens just weren’t cut and rolled enough. When they are, it’s a good course, when they aren’t - well, we will look for other courses as options now. Wellend Parks greens are nice and true and run well, and so too are Riverwood’s.

Three great nines. Some repairs going on a few greens otherwise excellent condition. Wildlife abounds and staff is very friendly. Great proactive facility included with your green fees. Highly recommend this course if you’re in the Port Charlotte, FL area and I will be back to play again and again!

All staff were welcoming, in particular the starter who did his best for us as a two ball, he swapped us on to a different starting 9 hole course to avoid us being held up. Great practice facilities & course in good condition.

The course was beautiful but it was very frustrating to have to wait on every hole. No marshalls to be found after 2pm. Not sure if that's normal or maybe because it was a sunday. Some holes had 2 groups waiting.

This is a hidden gem. 27 of the best manicured and maintained holes of golf that is open to the public in Florida that I have come across in a long time.

From the course, to the practice facilities to the friendly and helpful staff, everything was A+. For this time of year, the price was very competitive.

If I lived closer, I would play this course on a regular basis.
