Riverwood Golf Club

This course is always in great condition and has a number of tee options that make it fun and challenging to any level of golfer. It’s just a terrific golf course.

The course is always in top shape. Played many times in the last 7 years. I only play off season as that's what I can afford. I wish I could play all the time there.

Based on the reviews here I thought this course was going to be better. It was ok. I got a hot deal in it so the price was worth it, but full price I think it would be a ok. Here’s the good: fairways were in decent shape. Free range balls. Greens were decent. Not bad, but definitely far from perfect. Course was empty when I played so I pace of play wasn’t an issue. My twosome played in 3:15. And we stopped for about 30 minutes cause of short rain delay. The bad: no gps on carts. This course should absolutely have gps on cart for the type is course and prices. Tee boxes overall were not great. Some were ok. Some were flat out bad. None were great. Greens had bad spots. My putting wasn’t affected, but they were definately not perfect, but they weren’t horrible either. Some of the rough was very rough. Very tall grass and very hard to play out of. I lost a few balls that should not have been lost because the rough was too tall for me to find a ball that was like only a few feet off the fairway. This was super annoying.

Overall I was expecting a lot more from the course because of the reviews. It might be because of where it is located and lack of better courses in the Port Charlotte area. This would be a solid mid level course in Sarasota or Naples.

Visiting my sister I chose Riverwood on my nephews recommendation. It had recently been aerated but, was in excellent condition! Staff were all friendly and very accommodating. Facilities and practice areas were well stocked and outside! I will be bringing my clubs every time I come to visit and will frequent Riverwood but w I come down. Kudos to all at Riverwood! I love that court!

5 stars across the board, had some heavy rain the day before I played and believe it or not the course was in fantastic shape, considering middle of our summer here in Southwest Florida. My only issue is that I’ve had before on this course is that there are no yardage markers. You might find some on the tee box which you usually do and they have the 150 pole in the middle of the fairway but I just don’t understand that this quality of golf course has NO yardage markers on it, and their gas golf carts have no GPS.

Course is in great shape. Did not like playing solo. Members do not like to play with non-members

The course was recently aerated. Some fairways in small areas were brown. Once they get rain, this course will be in super shape. Ball sits up perfect in the fairways! Even the greens were very good with small amounts of sand on them. By far, the best course in the area even in conditions like these. Great practice range included. For me, it’s always a 5 star rating

I had played it before and it was a very good. I have to say that the course was not in excellent shape after the maintenance. Some Fairways had significant damage I probably shouldn't even have been open in the greens were not true or Fair. When it's in good shape it's a lovely course

Got a great deal thru GN, so jumped on the tee time. Big fan of this course. Unfortunately, the golf shop attendant said Nothing to me about the greens being recently aerated! Maybe that's why I got such the good rate? Anyhow, I thought it was good etiquette to inform all golfers that the greens were recently aerated??

Because of the golf shops lack of communication, had to give the rating less stars...

I loved the course and all the staff up until I reached the starter. Wow what a piece of work he is. I was playing with 2 strangers from the area who play there often and apparently he is legendary for his lack of and poor social skills. Not sure why he’s still there but once you get past him the course is a really fun track. Greens were getting aerated but you gotta deal with that occasionally. Recommend it but hopefully Mr Happy isn’t working that day :)
