Difficult when first time
Its not an easy Course to play, especially when you play it for the first time. You have to be very careful where you aim as the hazards are lurking all over.
I also made the mistake to play from Blue, should have played White as I had problems carrying the drives long enough on several holes.
We will come back one day, but being from abroad it will have to wait.
All staff was extremely friendly and I can’t fault them anything.
Fun Adventure
Good variety of par 3’s and par 5’s in between acceptable par 4’s. To reach their designed layout, we traveled some pretty long distances from greens to the next tee(s).
Course was in pretty good condition despite the lack of rain.
Viper
Great course my favorite course in this area. Great layout with many tee options to make the course as tough or as friendly as you want. Don’t miss out, definitely need to play this course.
Heron Creek
Course is a very good layout in decent condition. The pace of play leaves room for improvement. We played over 5 hours waiting on several holes. Should be able to complete play in 4:15 or less.
Tighten up your uniform
Bag drop guys great, checkin guy, pretty good, starter, Mr. Drill sergeant. Told us front nine had to be 2 hours 7 minutes. Sure that isn't 2 hours, 6 minutes and 48 seconds????? Says don't be mean to the the Marshalls, Now, that me be doable for those who KNOW the course, but with no GPS to show hidden hazards, virtually impossible. It's nerve racking enough getting in to sticky situations and taking a moment to figure the best way out, but having the Marshall hiding behind some random bush watching and looking at his watch..... give me a break. Next, undulating greens, which I am cool with and putting is a very strong suit of mine, but it makes for more time on the green, simple as that. NO water provided in the cooler or on the course. NO cart girl until the turn, and she was a doll, but frustrated as gestapo boy with shades on was staring us down while we SPENT MONEY!! and had to make a comment to move along!!! Oh, and yes, we too got scolded for being 4 minutes off pace, said they were holding EVERYONE back because of us. Well, we hit when group in front cleared a fairway or green. There are so many better courses to play in the area. Don't waste your money.
Perfect day
Frost delay and one of the staff was a little testy. Once we got going it was a good day. Marsh and Creek 9’s. Beautiful course. Could use GPS or at least a better score card for these old eyes but we truly enjoyed the round.
Never again...
I guess my original (3) reviews were too honest so I'm on my (4) review considering Golfnow refuses to publish them. I will never play here again. Why you ask? Well, course is beautiful, pro shop staff is friendly, but some gestapo ranger with dark sunglasses that apparently hates life and or his job just harasses golfers with his fake drill sergeant approach. I would love to tell you all how I really feel about this person but i cannot because this review will never get published. There was no one in front of us, no one behind us, and we were at the turn in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Yet he had to harass us and say that we were behind schedule. And i was like "are you kidding me?" This guys is a tool and a fool, and totally ruined the day for myself, my kid, and (2) other players we were with who also tried to educate this fool yet he had to spy on us, follow us, watch us, like get a life. And then we rushed, got to the turn and was held up by a single. So if you want to be rushed, spied on, harassed, then have at it. For myself? I will never step foot on this track ever again in my life.
Heron Creek the hidden gem!!!
Heron Creek is one of the nicest courses in the area. The course management is superb and has everything from the beginning to the advanced player.
Visor wearing tyrants thinking this is Augusta
Shoutout to the starter and roaming ranger squad for turning a casual weekend round into a boot camp exercise.
From the jump, the starter set the tone like he was launching the final group at Augusta. Then the rangers picked up the torch - stopping us multiple times while letting the random twosome they paired us up with tee off out of dress code, and waited until the 8th to suddenly care. Golf here feels less like a round and more like a pop-up HOA meeting with carts.
Play somewhere else unless you enjoy being managed by mall cops with whistles.
Awesome!
On of the nicest places I’ve played in a long time
Hidden gem
Drive to North Port and play this golf course, you won’t regret it. Three distinct nines, The Oaks, The Marsh and The Creek, all with different characteristics. You’ll play in under 4 1/2 hours and love the layout. Greens could maybe be a bit quicker but they rolled true and were fair.
Creek-Oak
Played Sunday afternoon in 4:15. Waited on every tee boxes for a few minutes, but not bad considering the course was busy. Conditions were very good even though the it looks like the greens were sanded recently. Fun layout and friendly staff.
