Tough Course
Dunne is a tough course, but I love the challenge. The greens were good, the fairways were great, the only problem was the bunkers. If they kept up the bunkers this would be my favorite course in the area.
Rough Shape
The course was in very rough shape closer to the greens. The bunkers are still not raked at all. The greens are extremely slow and bumps all around.
Sand traps
Sand traps were horrible. Maybe for lack of employees, not sure. One thing for sure, the bunkers were not raked or tended to in what seemed to be weeks. Took 2 to 3 shots to get out of them. Just garbage.. The course is another story. I liked it an it was in very good shape.
Course operator here. Thanks for playing George Dunne, and thanks for taking the time to write us a note. The bunkers are high on our priority list, so your comments are in line. Come back soon!
Pace of play
I live in the area and have played here several times. It is a popular spot and they take advantage of it. Tee times are 10 minutes apart and it is always backed up towards the back 9. Expect to play a 4 1/2-5 hour round. If you’re okay with that, the course itself is sweet. Solid fairways and greens with a good mix of about everything- blind shots, twists and turns alongside some easier straight holes. Bunkers are pretty bad. Matted driving range with a little putting green. Used to be $30 a round now it’s 50-70 not worth it to me but if ya catch a hot deal I’d say go for it.
Pretty good overall
Course In overall great shape but as usual the sand traps need help. I’d pay $20 more for good sand traps
Pace of play SLOW
The course is in great shape for what it is. The bunkers are clay so don't hit in them. The pace of play is insanely slow. I wish they had rangers on the course to keep the game moving.
This is a great course
Course was in surprisingly good shape for early in the season. Greens rolled great. Still some bunkers that were almost unplayable but the course is so good that you tend to overlook that.
They’ve clearly given up
Such a great course, but they’ve clearly given up trying to keep the bunkers playable. Not even one bunker was maintained or playable. Tee boxes are bad as well. Such a shame.
Course operator here. Thanks for playing George Dunne, and we appreciate your note. You mention two areas that are our highest priorities. We are attending to the bunkers this week and next, and we have set the tee boxes to heal from more intense Winter play than we've had in some time.
We are always putting maximum effort into making conditions the best they can be, so your feedback is critical to that ongoing process.
Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope to see you again soon.
George Dunne Course
Overall it was a positive experience the course was well kept… not much sand in the sand traps. Everything was well maintained and the the staff was friendly course played well.
Good as always sans the bunkers
Love this course and the layout. Tees fairways and greens in good shape. Bunkers always need work. They just can’t keep sand in them.
Great course and layout! Horrible sand traps, mostly clay.
Great course and layout! Horrible sand traps, mostly clay.
Very challenging, especially the greens. Fast and tricky!
Very nice staff.
This course has big greens
Good value for the money. Avoid the bunkers is a must very inconsistent. It’s definitely a penalty if you get in the bunkers. I don’t think anyone rakes anymore. Friendly staff. I’ll definitely play here again. Par 5’s are okay. Par 4’s are great. Par 3’s are pretty good. Greens rolled nice. Just make sure when playing you get out early otherwise it’ll be slow going.
This course has huge greens
Good bang for your buck. Get out early because it can be slow. Greens rolled nice. Bunkers were less then desirable.
Great layout, bunkers need some work.
The course has a great layout and is very challenging. Greens and fairways were in decent shape. There are a ton of large bunkers and plenty of water hazards. The bunkers had very little sand and lots of pebbles and rocks. Otherwise a great value.
Bunkers need work
George Dunne has always been one of my favorite local courses. It is reasonably priced and it is long and challenging. The greens are large and have a lot of character. This year the grass didn’t seem to be in as good of shape as it usually is and the bunkers need serious work. There are just too many and they are massive, which makes them harder to maintain. I would like to see them turn a few bunkers into grass bunkers. I will play again, however it isn’t on the top of my list,
Still early in the season
Course was pretty wet from the raid the week leading up to when I played. A lot of clean and replace happening. Course itself is fun. It isn’t just driver 9i/wedge. You have to think through shots and avoid hazards/OB.
Course operator here. Thanks for playing a round with us, and we appreciate your candid comments. We are attending to the bunkers in the immediate future, and with a lot of play during our exceptionally mild winter, we are catching conditions up in some areas. We are always looking to improve the course, so we appreciate your first-hand experience. We hope to see you again soon!
