South side gem
The course was in good shape. the greens were rolling good, but the bunkers need work. pace of play was ok.
Sand traps were in bad shape
5 hr round on a Monday ? Very slow 4 in front of us
G Dunne
It’s a shame this course is not maintained at the level it deserves. Once again the bunkers are unplayable, looks like they are not watering regularly, cart paths are in disrepair. Despite all that it’s still a great and challenging layout, it could be soooo much better.
Slowwwww
Pace of play is always poor. Course has a fun layout but needs work. Also needs sand in EVERY trap.
Great course, great value, bad sand.
The course is well worth its price. One of the most underrated courses in the area for layout and difficulty. Everything from tees to the greens were maintained beautifully, minus the sand traps. The sand was virtually completely unplayable, as it was similar to playing out of dirt. Even with the sand issue, I will happily be back soon.
Nice course!
Nice course, great pace, bunkers need to be raked a bit but also could have been the fact it was 99 out! Will be back!
Great layout
Played here many times always enjoy the layout, conditions were good other than the traps need more sand and care all in all a great value
Sandless Traps / Zero Pace
The pace of play was a joke. After 5 hrs and 16 holes, I had enough. I ended up walking off. The sand traps need sand, always an issue at Dunne. The layout makes up for the negatives, fun and challenging.
Early for your Tee time means your late. Poor service, beautiful fairways/greens
First time at the course, live in the area as well. Right out of the gate greeted by rude staff. Nearly 10 minutes early means that your late, as we were told that the starter was looking for us and there was another twosome with us that was on the tee….okay well a tee time means you tee off at that time, we had plenty of time. Seems like if your not one of the daily regulars on the course, they treat you like you don’t matter. This really ruined the experience off the bat, we felt rushed and started off poorly. Being rushed to tee off, but the group in front of us held us up…made lots of sense. Course layout is difficult, there’s so much sand here. Every green is protected by at least 2 bunkers. They aren’t really sand bunkers, more like dirt bunkers. Understandable that sand isn’t cheap anymore, but these bunkers were a joke. It was like hitting out of concrete. The fairways are absolutely immaculate. Grass is perfectly green and cut to a perfect height. The greens are also immaculate. Great job on these. However the rough looks like someone sprayed glyphosate all over on accident. It’s been fairly cool and has recently rained. They shouldn’t be dry or dead looking. They were also pretty long. About 3.5-4” long. Played with someone from out of state and he was pretty mentally drained by the 13th hole with how difficult it was. I like a good challenge. But not a course with so many bunkers, and concrete bunkers at that. However, the attitude and rudeness off the bat really set me the wrong way for the rest of the day. I’ve heard this course is or was very politically influenced in the past. It is a cook county owned course on the cook county forest preserve grounds. Seemed like because we had no political affiliation to the cook county crooked machine, we weren’t treated well. Who knows. If you like well kept fairways, greens, tee boxes, bunkers galore, and a rude staff….this is your place.
Great Course for the cost
Cost to what you get is awesome. Lot of sand, and the bunkers could use some work, but other than that course was great.
Very nice course and very good value
Nice course and very good value. Interesting course layout with a variety of holes. Bunkers have been fixed (a problem in prior years). Rough inconsistent in some areas, but generally good. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Great layout
This is a great golf course except for the condition of the bunkers. Most were unplayable. It is such a shame because it is such a great layout. Tees and fairways good, rough tough, greens in good condition but too slow for a course of this caliber.
Tough, still one of my favorites
I never shoot great here, but I still love the course. I've never played it and NOT seen either deer or coyote. Tee boxes are level, greens play true, fairways are decent. But the bunkers need some fresh sand. Also, the bunkers are huge and they have one rake each, which always seems to be laying on the opposite side from where my ball is. It doesn't matter to me, but clearly no one else makes the walk to the rake because I landed in a several footprints and raked out others' divots multiple times. Back 9 is no picnic, I'm usually exhausted after playing this course. But it's still a classic, one of the best Muni Courses in the Midwest.
