Great course! Awesome history. Fun layout. Fair price 👍
Great course! Awesome history. Fun layout. Fair price 👍
The tee boxes are in bad condition the sand traps are full of water and not sand unable to hit of the sand traps at all. Definitely not worth what they charge for a round the course has really fallen off over the last few years
Never again
This used to be a nice course, really went downhill, sand traps are rock hard, felt lining under the sand is coming through, no sand to get the club under the ball. Been having an issue with GolfNow, if the course is wide open, why do you advertise for 1 player, I don’t like playing alone but since it said 1 player I assumed I was a fourth guy. Anyway, no starter for at least 20 minutes groups are going out in 2 , had to wait on every hole , there was a 3 group backup on a par 3, guy and woman in front hitting 5 balls but instead of the rangers doing something about that, they tell us don’t drive carts neat tee boxes which are 100 feet from the path and turn around and leave. Luckily I got a deal for $57 regular rates are $71 I have a course in my backyard I could have played but I drove an hour each way. I wouldn’t pay $30 to play here ever again!!
Mr. Romano, thanks for your review - we appreciate the feedback. Sand trap and more renovations are coming in the not-too-distant future. We'll continue to look at our tee sheet and starter policies to make sure we're as efficient as possible, and we'll review what we can do to keep play moving. We'd love to talk to you directly, so please send us a note at info.georgedunne@forestpreservegolf.com. Thanks for playing, and we hope you come back to see us again soon.
Bunkers at just dirt
The course was on great condition and was a pleasure to play. One of the main things that makes this course challenging is it's bunkers. They're everywhere and large. They're normally very challenging and i welcome the challenge but unfortunately there is no same in most of the bunkers and it's a guessing game as to how to play each holes bunkers because one is straight dirt and the next has an inch of sand but you can't really tell. These bunkers need sand. I was told they well be fixing them in the fall but we shall see. Other than that the fairways were on great shape and so were the greens.
Fix your bunkers!!!
Overall the course is in great shape but the bunkers are the worst I’ve ever experienced anywhere. There’s no sand and it’s rock hard dried mud so it’s like hitting off concrete which is really bad because this course has a lot of sand traps.
Hidden gem
A well kept course run by local park district. Challenging layout. Fast but true greens and some very difficult tee shots over water on a few holes. Fun course, not over priced. Bit of a hike depending on where you live in Chicagoland area.
Put real sand in the bunkers EOM
This one of the best courses if you would put real sand in the bunkers. Otherwise the value is not there.
I have been asking myself why I hadn’t been back to play the course since the first time I played it 10 years ago. Great public course for the price. I plan to play there more often going forward.
Good course
Bunker and cart path needs work but other than that, a solid course
So good.
I found this course to be a really well maintained course, fairways were clearly fairways, green are a 4/5… pace of play was a little crappy, but then I was alone with a cart. Overall a 4.7 for me… will love to play in the summer…. Nice!
Nice course slow play
I like George Dunne but the pace of play was terrible. In the winter and limited playing time from about 10am to 330pm most of the 30 people on the course were booked between 10-1200 so the front became crowded with many walkers.
I requested that we tee off the back and then see the starter to go off the front. The back was completely empty they said no stating that people might come (no one on tee sheet after 130pm) we were 1130 tee time and would have made the turn about 130. So we had to play a slow round 4.5 hours behind slow play.
I will avoid this course.
Cart paths are very dangerous and need repairs
Also bunkers need raking and additional sand
Course operator here. Thank you for writing a note of feedback, and we understand that it may have been a viable option to play the back, then front. But with the weather in a wait-and-see mode the last few days, we made the judgement call to manage everyone's expectations, especially if we were to have some walk-ups as you were trying to make the turn. There are some significant projects coming up at George Dunne, and we'd love to have you back. If you'd like to discuss further, please reach out directly at info.georgedunne@forestpreservegolf.com.
Good layout ... Poorly maintained. Cart paths on #s 14 and 15 need repairs badly
People at the check in are very nice and helpful. Interesting course design with plenty of water and sand bunkers. BUT... cart paths need urgent repair, especially around holes #14 and #15.
Course operator here. Thanks for the review, and we appreciate you joining us for a round. Please know that George Dunne and other Forest Preserve Golf courses are slated for major improvements this season and into the future. We're aware of the bunker situation at George Dunne and it's a top priority. This may take a little time, but we're committed to doing this right for our customers.
