Excellent Layout... Fairways and greens in great shape, but some sections of the cart paths are in really bad condition.
George Dunne National has one of the best layouts in the area. The Fairways and Greens are in very good condition (thanks to the rain we had recently). The difficulty is moderate for a good golfer but somewhat challenging for seniors like me. The cart paths on several holes are in really pathetic condition. They need urgent repairs.
Excellent fairways, greens and tee boxes.
The fairways, tee boxes and greens were in excellent shape. Cart paths were in poor condition but the course was in the best shape and that what counts. Overall, a fun day to golf.
Sand traps
Great course, one of my favorites in the area. Only concern is the sand traps. Even in the warmer weather, the traps are more like dirt and pretty hard than sand. Not all of them but most of them are pretty tough to hit out of because of the hardness of them.
This is a great course
Wonderful golf course except for the bunkers which are essentially unplayable and the cart paths which are almost dangerous in many places.
A challenging public course with some great value.
We played in November, so, of course, the course was a little rough. The sand traps were water logged and the rough was a little out grown. However, the course layout is superb. Course plays 6600 yards from the whites and most greens are protected by sand traps. Avoid the concession stands, though. I paid $3.50 for a bag of stale fruit snacks.
Great shape
The course is in great shape for the end of the year and the leaves were no where to be found. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get out one last time this year.
Sand traps unplayable/slow play
Always loved the layout and the 12 minute spacing between groups helped mitigate extended 5 hour plus rounds. The back 9 was snail pace slow, drainage issues and lack of maintenance effectively made hitting into any trap a free drop, since the multitude on traps on the where in terrible condition. Our group would suggest removing the traps if they cannot meet basic standards. Thanks for listening.
Nice Course-Bunkers Brutal
I really like the Course layout. I would rate George Dunne 5 stars if...And a big If..the bunkers were even playable. Unfortunately 90 percent were not playable. I realize it costs big money to maintain that many bunkers but you have to figure something out. Remove some? Would be fantastic if they could figure out that Major issue!
Frost delay
Did not play due frost delay of 1:30 hrs. Made the tee time so that we could play before work. Hoping to get a credit from golf pass for a future round. Went on the website but couldn’t live chat with anyone.
Greens
Played early Saturday- not sure why only part of green was cut. Very deceiving visually and tough putting through dew / non dew
Very interesting course and a must play in Chicago area
Such a great, challenging layout
Sand traps are in desperatel need of sand
Cart paths in severe disrepair
Rain
Cart path only because of wet conditions. I couldn't play. Knees can't handle CPO
