Perfect except the bunkers are trash
the course as usual is wonderful.
Not the fault of the course, but players don't fix divots on greens, I repaired mine and 2 more almost every green.
Only bad thing... the Bunkers are unplayable. many had standing water, those did not, had little to no sand and were rock hard.
but overall a wonderful layout, challenging and very good condition
Great for a forest preserve course
Most forest preserve courses are quite barebones in their layouts. George Dunne National is quite a good layout with very good course maintenance when it comes to the greens, fairways, rough, and tees. The water zones and bunkers though are quite rough. However, those elements are not the end all be all for me.
When you can though pay close to if not less than what I paid to play here on a weekend afternoon time (1pm for $58) at a course like Mount Prospect, Highlands of Elgin, or McKray, I do wonder if George Dunne National might be a bit overpriced. I would say if you live close by, absolutely give this course a shot. However if you are having to drive +45 minutes to get here and are around the courses I named above, it's a bit hard to recommend George Dunne National over those courses especially if you are wanting to ride in a cart.
Great course except sand traps
Overall, course in great shape, tease, fairways, and greens were great. The sand traps were terrible, no sand. And if you hit it in the sand trap, you just walked in and picked it up and put it on the grass.
Nice course needs traps repaired
Traps were often hard dirt. They were the only disappointment.
good shape for having no rain in weeks
the course was in good shape for having no rain in the area for weeks always fun
Love the wooded vibe
Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Just like many golf courses in the area the traps are unplayable. At this time many eliminate a third of them and make them grass bunkers
Bunkers
Great course. Love playing here. Only condos the bunkers. Need to be sand and not muck. Very hard surface in bunkers.
GD Review
The course is a great layout. However the bunkers lack sand and maintenance. Would be awesome if the bunkers were bunkers not dirt pits. Areas, around greens and bunkers were hard pan. Fairways and greens in great shape except for 2 fairways that had water issues in center.
