Average
If you are familiar with George Dunne then you already know the pace of play at this course, which for a group of four is a relaxing pace.
Solo players be ready to wait.
All the fringes are burnt out and decayed, which gives you a nice extra kick onto the putting surface if you put some spin on the ball and not hold it up on the fringe.
No Joke the fringes are in terrible shape.
What Once Was
This course used to be the premier forest preserve course in the area. People used to line up early weekend mornings just to get a shot to play. Well, that was before..... now it is a whole different story. First, pace is atrocious. Took 3 hours to play the front 9 and so I decided to walk off. The greens are all like putting in carpets and littered with ball marks. The sand traps are hard pan. Tee boxes and fairways are fair but other than that it’s just a shame that it’s nowhere close to what it used to be. For how busy it is I wonder where the money goes since it’s literally always a 5 hour round minimum. Billy Casper golf should do a much better job. Overall, avoid if you can.
Slow play & Bunkers terrible shape...
Great price however pace of play is soooo slow .... Bunkers are in terrible shape . Most have not been raked in who knows how long .
It’s a shame because it used to be such a great track .
Overall below average
Great customer service, and friendly staff. Good course layout. Condition of whole course was poor (tee boxes, fairways, putting green apron. Bunkers were poor too.
Saturday Afternoon
Course was great. Very tough if off the fairway. Only downside was that it took 5 hours and only finished 17 holes due to darkness. The main issue was the groups in front of us: a FIVEsome, a foursome (ok) , then a twosome, then a single who was walking. This should not happen on a weekend.
Good but could be better
The layout of this course is fantastic. One of the beat fairways and greens I’ve seen on a public course. However. The bunkers and rough were in pretty bad shape and the course was drenched after it rained two days ago. Also the pace of play is brutal. 5 hours for a 8:20 tee time on a Wednesday is just inexcusable. This was a good course but it should be so much better
Great Design with slow play
Design of this course is really good. Maintenance of course is average and sand is not so good. Management continues to book tee times with 8 minute intervals which causes slow play on weekends. Difficult from blue and gold tees and big undulating greens that put a premium on reading breaks.
Need work
Some of the sand still needs work fairways and greens are in wonderful shape
5 hour round was b.s. quit overlooking not the first ttime here for slow round
Good shape
Good shape also noticed the sand bunkers have been improved !
Beautiful Course
Fantastic course in a forest preserve setting. Very scenic. Challenging course to play with well protected greens that are very fast. Highly recommend.
course is great. play a little slow later in the day
A day on the links
The course was in great shape other than the bunkers were under construction on the 14 hole. Staff were great and the weather was great.
Tough Course, great round.
We had a great time playing this course. It’s challenging but fun.
